Default carbs in keifer cheese??

I made a really yummy herbed keifer cheese yesterday
(Mrs. Dash's garlic/herb blend and mineral salt - think Boursin, but healthier)

As I was chowing down on this with my celery, it dawned on me, I have NO clue what the carb count of the cheese is. Really, I'm clueless.

Figure at one carb an ounce like "normal" cheese????

As a rule I don't count the carbs in my kefier unless I've made a smoothie.

ideas????

One carb per oz is how I count it, April. That's the count for whole milk ricotta, which seems to be about the same deal as kefir cheese, in terms of milk solids. I love it with herbs, too!

gilley -
here is a link that will give you WAY too much info about keifer and how to make cheese from it.

DON'T let the extreme detail that Dom goes into throw you. It really is very simple.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Kefir_making/

hit links on the left side to get to Dom's site.

If your interested in making keifer yourself, just post here. We've all got tons of grains to share.
