| Did anyone see Dateline tonight? They did a weight loss program comparison. There were 5 people on it all doing different programs. One did the "food pyramid", another did vegan, another did South Beach, another did no diet, but more exercise and the last one did Oprah's program with her trainer. The Vegan and Oprah lady did the best. The South Beacher kept eating off plan and didn't do very well. The exerciser didn't do well nor did the food pyramid guy (who watched his portion size and calories.) The interesting thing was the Vegan woman also cut out processed carbs, breads and starchy veggies. They ALL added exercise to their programs and all lost SOME weight. I believe the vegan woman actually reached her goal weight already. I was dissappointed that the SB woman couldn't stay on program. It didn't help the LC cause. And they didn't really address blood tests and health benefits at all, although the SB woman got her diabetes under control. (I'm surprised at that, cuz she kept cheating with sugary treats.) Anyone else watch this?

| Yes Barb I watched it. I thought it was odd too that they snubbed Atkins. Ah well 5 people does not a study make. |

| eDiets is now featuring a program "by Oprah's Trainer". No small co-inky-dink there. Also, did they mention whether the vegan's triglycerides went up??? I'm very CURIOUS... |

| They didn't focus on blood lipid tests AT ALL and as far as I'm concerned, that's what really matters!!!!!!! The weight loss is secondary.

| They did atkins on their first diet challenge, thats why they didn't do it this time. All those diets weren't done last time. Last time they did Atkins, Slim Fast, extreme excercise, Jorge Cruise's program, and weight watchers. Here is the link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3841501/ |

| I'm not sure, I didn't even know they did the 2nd one until I saw this post What I would like to see would be the various low carb diets put up against each other.... that would be interesting.. especialy if they did blood tests. Rae |
