Well, alrighty!
Janell, good to have you aboard! We could use a few more *zonies* in here

I have had a little trouble focusing on what I'm doing here. Haven't eaten off zone plan since Monday, but I am eating to many blocks. I think I ended up with 13, possibly 14 blocks yesterday...aarrgghh!

I have already had 7 blocks today, and I am really STARVING....(yeah, rrrright)
and want a 4 block dinner. Then I will probably want a snack tonight as well.
I guess I may end up with 12 blocks today :(

How's everyone else doing with the impending holidays? We are beginning to get food gifts from the docs at work.......YIKES! You know, the huge popcorn tins with caramel popcorn, cheese, and buttered popcorn. Then it's only a matter of time before those blasted shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate show up...aarrgghh! I think my plan will be to make myself a cup of green tea and eat half a zone perfect bar when everyone else is munching on the gift goodies...heaven help me!

OK.....I'm off to fix dinner. Rotisserie chicken and a big salad with ranch, may steam some broccoli also

Thanks for the welcome-I've been feeling good this week so hope to coast with that feeling into the weekend. I'm not looking forward to the food gifts/cookie exchanges at work either. But I'm putting together a strategy like yours--funny, tea was in my mind too--but then I'm going to try to really focus on picking out the best of the best for my treats--and I'm actually going to do a cookie exchange so I can make tins of cookies for my friends as a gift. Kind of counter productive maybe but I'm looking forward to it because I've been able to ask myself " do you really want that cookie??? if so, pick the best and enjoy every crumb-then back to the focus". We'll see if I'm still feeling so strong in 2 weeks or so!!! Have a good day all-Janell

OK.....today was not zoneful :( Last night was the company Christmas party; the meal was excellent...in the zone...then came dessert...NOT zoneful. But I kinda planned to splurge last night, and I did. Unfortunately, it carried over into today, and I did not make zoneful choices as I should have. If I can get myself refocused and back in the zone, then I don't intend to have another splurge until Christmas Day. Then I feel I will have it made and can ring in the New Year on track. I think that's a do-able plan for me...now to enforce that plan...easier said than done sometimes

Janell, good luck on those cookie tins...may the force be with you I have made the decision NOT to bake this holiday season. It was a hard decision for me to make because I ALWAYS bake and make candy for gifts for friends and neighbors. But this year I am not willing to have a setback with my weight loss, and I know I would. I have hardly no self control when it comes to homemade cookies and candies. Heck, sometimes the cookie dough doesn't even make it to the oven...LOL.

Thanks for the good wishes on the cookie tins--I know it will take strength. I think I'm going to make a couple lower carb and those will be where I direct my focus if I need/want to indulge.

That dessert at the Christmas party sounds like a killer-but hopefully you can get the choices back under control-my husband and I ended up out for dinner last night as we got caught up in shopping-had good choices all the way and then looked at dessert-I decided I had to indulge in the peanut butter pie so shared it with him. Not too bad a splurge and this morning I'm back at the good choices. Hope your day goes well--Janell

Way to go Janell on the dessert issue; sharing is better than the whole shabang...LOL.

I was up 1.5 lbs this am due in fact I'm sure to the comfort foods and the company Christmas party. Also had some soy sauce last night when DH and I went on our dinner date.

Back on track today, all day. Sipping my 3rd cup of GT

Any of you zoners have any recipe ideas to share? I started us another thread in this forum so step right up and put in your fav

From now until the end of the year, the OR schedule is crazy busy. Sooooooo, I MUST prepare my foods ahead of time so I can stay zoneful while at work and not cave in to junk food gifts that are beginning to arrive...aarrgghh!

Hope everyone has a good week...Bren, Sharron...where are ya girlfriends?
Janell, keep in touch here...we can cheer each other on

Those Christmas gifts will be hard to resist! I'm going to try to pack good snacks/lunches myself this week. While I can't compare to your OR schedule, work and errands are the devils" instruments cuz they both lead to stress and a shortened lunch schedule. I can't tell you the days lately when it's been fantastic to have some string cheese or a piece of ham in the fridge here at work--otherwise the M&M's would have been calling my name.... The advance planning is a pain sometimes but it's a relief too to know I'm ready. Then if I really do want to indulge or step out of the Zone, at least it's a very thoughtful decision. No regrets that way..it's better than getting sucked into something just cuz////

Didn't do to good today; wasn't in the zone. I don't know where my resolve got off to, but if anyone sees it, would you please send it back to me???...LOL.
I think this holiday season is going to be tougher to get through without a binge than I thought; just so frustrating at times....aarrgghh.
Finishing my 3rd cup of GT; at least that is one thing I seem to be doing right!
No results yet, but it can't hurt, IMO.

Hey Shelley-sorry about the not so good day yesterday. Hang in there--my attitude is that if I'm going to let it slide a little, I want to be sure the slide is for the most awesome food ever--so far this month I haven't seen that most awesome food/treat ever--as long as I keep evaluating for that best of the best, I seem to be waiting--maybe it's a mind game, but then isn't life a mind game????

what's with the green tea? I assume there are benefits--must have missed them while I was browsing on this board. Janell

Hi Janell,
Yes...I do the same thing alot of times when there is a temptation. I ask(or tell) myself..."you've tasted this before, you know what it tastes like, is it worth it?"
Sometimes I win out in the *mind* game, and sometimes not...LOL. I didn't win out again today either :( As a matter of fact, I didn't make it much past breakfast this morning before the first temptation dropped right in front of me...heh.
Back on track tomorrow hopefully. I've got my breakfast and lunch all ready to grab in the morning on my way out the door, so no excuses!

Oh, the green tea is very high in anti-oxidants and also is supposed to aid with weight loss and anti-aging, according to Dr. Pericone. There is a green tea challenge in the challenge forum if you are interested. I just started drinking hot tea just a few weeks ago. Not to bad, now that I'm used to it

Back on track today, and hopefully back in the Zone by the evening meal.
I love the Holidays, just not fact that food is so much a part of it, ya know?
Still almost 3 weeks til NY's, so I think there's hope I can make it to oneunderland.
If not, then at least not GAIN any the rest of this year
Chores are calling me.....I''m off.....

Well, hey there, girly! Glad you popped in!
Will do on the nudge Of course, I may need a nudge myself, if I don't get back on track here. I really did OK today...completely *legal beagle* and even went to Outback Steak House for dinner date with DH I do great at home, but boy it's getting hard at work with all the holiday goodies arriving daily...actually, they should be called holiday *baddies*, don't you think? heh.
Off to make a cup of GT.

Glad to hear things are going better. Been a good week for me but yesterday the cutout cookies called my name. My husband and I went for our annual Christmas adventure-looking for gifts for the grandkids-and in years past that automatically meant we shared a box of cookies as we drove around the area. I did have my share yesterday but today I'm back where I should be.

Two weeks til Christmas and then new Years'--I have 4 lbs off since I started the Zone mid November so I'm feeling good-small goal is to have 10 off by the end of January-if I stay on track it can happen. I have a business trip then to Hawaii and my husband and I are going to extend the stay a little for vacation--good incentive to feel better, let alone look better on the beach! Keep on track!!!--good motto.... have a great week. Janell

Janell,
Congrats on those 4 lbs! :great: That's good progress and especially around the holidays
I know what you mean about the cookies. Man, I love to bake cookies, and I love to eat them more...LOL At this point, I'm just trying my best to turn around and go in the other direction when I see cookies walking towards me

I stayed on track yesterday and so far today. It's just this time of year at work that's really hard. Hummmmm...maybe I should tell DH I NEED to quit working for dietary reasons... I wish! LOL.

OK..lets all dig our heels in and hang tough through the holidays! We can do it!

I'm in such a state that I'm doing much more limited carbs -- extreme measures for an extreme situation, yanno

I'm still having my Zone snack at bedtime. I wake up with low blood sugar in the middle of the night if I try to do otherwise!

Congrats on 4# Janell!
