| I thought a zone recipe forum might be helpful, or at least a place where we can kind of run a recipe by each other and make sure it's zoneful and correct. Of course we have a space in the the recipe section as well for zone recipes. Anyway, I came up with some zoneful French toast this morning and wanted to share. Zoneful French Toast 2 slices lite whole wheat bread 2C blocks(13 carbs for 2 slices) 1 whole egg, plus 1/4 c egg substitute 2P blocks 2T skim milk...free 1tsp vanilla extract...free 1/2 tsp (or more) ground cinnamon free 1 tsp olive oil 2F blocks Whisk egg and egg sub together with milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. Heat non stick skillet on med; drizzle O. oil in skillet. Put bread, one slice at a time into egg wash, turn over to saturate, then place in skillet and fry 2-3 minutes on each side. I added 1 oz lean ham and 1/3 cup unsweetened cherries with splenda and vanilla as my extra protein and carb to make a 3 block breakfast. Also a dab of smart balance for the extra fat block and a splash of SF Davinci's french vanilla syrup. I was totally happy

| Another idea for breakfast...I tweaked a zone pancake recipe I found. Cinnamon vanilla pancakes makes 1 serving 1/3 C rolled oats 2C blocks (place oats in blender and process until *flour* then empty the flour in a bowl and set aside) 1/4 C. lowfat cottage cheese 1P block 1 whole egg plus 1/4 C egg sub or 1 egg white 2P blocks 3-4 drops liquid splenda + half packet of stevia plus 1 tsp vanilla hearty dash cinnamon 1 tsp olive oil 2 Fat blocks 1/2 tsp baking powder Blend cottage cheese and eggs with vanilla, cinnamon in blender until smooth. Add baking powder and a dash of salt to oat flour and add to blender and process until smooth(I pulse it for about 30-40 seconds) Drizzle olive oil in non stick skillet and heat on med heat. Pour batter and fry until golden brown on each side. Makes 2 large pancakes! Top with 1/3 cup lite apple pie filling (1 C block) mixed with cinnamon and sweetened to taste and 1 tsp smart balance spread(1 fat block). Pour on some DV SF Caramel syrup if desired. Makes a 3 block breakfast that's really filling! I have also omitted the whole egg and used the egg beaters only, and then added 3 strips turkey bacon to make the 3 blocks. Either way is good to me Anyone else have any lunch or dinner ideas? Shell

| Girlie, I just make it plain...no additions. One of our docs gave us a huge smoked ham for our Christmas luncheon, so I was thinking more in terms of a picnic style side dish. Actually, the doc that gave us the ham ate 2 HUGE servings of the slaw and wanted to know who made it, and how...LOL. I was going to give him a sales pitch about your cookbook, but he had to leave to go to another hospital for a delivery before I could get back to him. I'm sure I'll get a chance again one of these days... Also, I bought a bag of pre shredded slaw mix and picked out most of the carrots and didn't obsess about the rest that was left...talk about a nifty time saver... Shell

| that salad is interesting. i've had a number of people -- including one today -- who say they don't like coleslaw, but after having it, usually have 2nds and want to know the recipe!! i did it sorta plain today -- just added a sprig of chopped parsley into the dressing. my nifty time saver was dh putting the cabbage through the food processor today ![]() my chili worked out well: 3 cans drained kidney beans, 1 can refried beans, 1.25# ground beef, 1# pork sausage, 1 large can chopped tomotoes, a ton of veggies and some assorted seasonings. yummy and easy. it was a hit. everyone had at least 2nds |

| My zone dinner tonight was *oven fried chicken* made the same way as the oven fried pork chop above; whipped caulitatoes 1 c block, steamed broccoli, and green peas(2c blocks). Found some yummy sf choc pudding with only 6 carbs, 3g fat, so I had that for dessert. Had a 4 block meal...sooooo filling! I'm a very happy camper shell

| Well....the commercial for *stuffed French toast* at IHOP put an idea in my head, so I zoned cloned a recipe...LOL. Here's what I did: 2 slices WW LC bread 2C blocks 1oz neufchatel cheese, soften with a few drop liq splenda and vanilla 3F blocks 1 whole egg 1 P block 2T skim milk free 2T sf strawberry jam, melted in the microwave with 2T DV sf strawberry syrup added 1C block Whisk the egg and milk together. I also added a shake or 2 of cinnamon and touch of vanilla extract to this. Spread the cream cheese on bread and make a *sandwich* of it; Then lay the sandwich in the egg wash and saturate both sides. Spray a non stick skillet with OO spray and cook/fry the french toast sandwich. Melt the sf jam in the microwave and add any flavor sf syrup; I did strawberry and strawberry; this makes a thick liquid just like syrup! When french toast sandwich is browned and done on both sides, serve with *jam syrup* and a 2 oz serving of another protein. I used 2oz lean cure 81 ham, but turkey bacon would be yummy too. I had some blackberry sf jam and melted it in the microwave and added a splash of dv sf vanilla syrup....man was it good...kind of a blackberry vanilla syrup Shell

| Oh, almost forgot, I had another breakfast idea to share Chocolate PNB oatmeal 1 c cooked old fashion oatmeal 3 C blocks 1 tsp. natural pnb, no sugar added 2 F blocks 2 tsp cocoa powder free 3 scoops zone perfect protein powder 3 P blocks sweeten to taste with liquid splenda. You can also add another half teaspoon of pnb for the 3rd fat block, or 1/2 tsp smart balance. Also sometimes, I use turkey bacon for my protein blocks. It's a 3 block breakfast, and easy for me to take to work 1 or 2 times a week. Shelley
