It is definately a possibility. When my younger brother was about 7, the doctors told my mother that he had this (adhd). She researched the options, and decided to place him on a no-refined-sugar eating plan. I recall that she became an avid label reader during that time, lol. The results were terriffic. His behavior improved dramatically.
Our home was not a junk food haven to begin with, heavy on veggies and natural foods, but eliminating sugar completely really made a difference for him.

Exclamation Re: Adhd and Low carb

I came across this posts on the New Posts page, and as my husband was diagnosed with Adult ADD some years ago, I forwarded the link to the thread to him to see what he thought. His response was interesting:

"The H in ADHD stands for hyperactive, so while cutting out the sugar may have reduced the hyperactivity of the child, I bet that the attention span difficulties remained the same. This would, however, explain why some people don't believe in ADHD. In fact, I wonder if ADHD is just ADD on a sugar high."

Things that make you go, "hmmm..."

Please note that this is my husband's opinion, and while I love my husband very much, I do recognize that opinions are like noses - everyone has one - so please don't take offense if this opinion does not fall in line with your opinions or beliefs.

I wouldn't doubt it. I know that when I go off carbs I can concentrate. Same with my son.
