Hi Amymichelle,
Welcome to LCE! Wow...70 lbs is fantastic...congrats to you
This forum doesn't seem to get much action, so just jump in anywhere you want and visit the other forums. Hopefully someone will buzz by that's also doing SBD.
We're glad you're here!

Hi Amy, I saw you on the other board, and I just wanted to tell you I have joined in over here now too. I prefer it here, it seems to me that it's far more friendly!!

I was reading another board the other day and they were poking fun at a newbie who was freaking out because she ate a peanut on induction. I don't know if it was a BS post. But if it was a person who was overreacting then they should have just calmed her down and explained it's no big deal. Anyway I've never seen anyone do that kind of stuff here.

Welcome to the boards Amy and Jade. Hey Jade cool shades

I'll jump in and introduce myself:

I am Doohickie, but my wife calls me Paul. I'm 42. I weighed 236 lb. on Jan 1, and have gotten down to 175. I have 5 more pounds to go to reach my goal weight of 170, but I have a feeling my doctor will tell me I've already lost enough when I have my annual physical exam tomorrow. I've gone from a 40 inch waist to a 34 (actually probably more like a 33, but men's waist sizes are mostly only in even-number increments). My blood pressure has dropped about 20 points on both numbers and my cholesterol is doing quite well too. I'm hoping my doctor tells me to throw all my pills away tomorrow!

I mentioned my wife- she's also 42. She just graduated from college last Saturday. I have two sons; one graduates from high school on Tuesday, the other is just finishing middle school.

WOOHOO! Welcome EVERYONE!!!! Glad to see there are more posters on this forum. I hope that you will all keep us posted on your progress. Amymichelle - congrats on the loss and to sticking with SBD for one year! That is commitment! I may have to pick your brain when I am ready for Phase II. Having done Atkins in the past, I know I will have to change my way of looking at certain foods.

The South Beach was the first diet I ever seriously tried. I don't have any "after" pics yet, but if you want to see a "before", go to my webpage: http://webpages.charter.net/doohickie/Index.html. Ah, the heck with it: here is a picture from the web page (me on the left):

If you want an idea of where I ended up, here is a picture of me from over 20 years ago; I weigh less than this now:
