I read on this link http://www.prevention.com/cda/featur...1-5350,00.html

That there is no dairy during Phase 1. However, in the sample menu it lists cheese and fat-free milk as items to eat.

So what is it?? No dairy or a little bit of dairy??

Also, is mayo ok in phase 1 if it's light??

No I don't have the book yet. I'm just started my research. Money is tight and the library has a long list of holds for the SBD book. So in the meantime I researching on line before I get started.

TIA,
Jessica

I'm not on SBD, but if you have a larger bookstore (like Barnes & Noble, or Borders), you can go in there, and sit down and actually read the books without anyone bothering you; whether you buy them or not..

Perhaps that will help?

Hi Jessica,
On SBD in phase 1 you can have fat free or low fat cheeses, cream cheese substitute, cottage cheese 1-2 %, ricotta, and string cheeses. Dairy to avoid in phase 1 are:
yogart, cup style or frozen, ice cream, milk, all %'s, and soy milk.
So, you can have limited dairy on SBD phase 1. Then in phase 2, you get more variety.

You can also have a couple of Tbsps of fat free milk or fat free half and half in coffee. That's it for milk products the first 2 weeks.

thanks for the 411 on dairy. What about mayo?? Will I be able to mix that with my tuna??

I'm trying to write up menus for dh and I to start (once we eat up everything "bad" in the house, we are too broke not too!).

Jessica,
Dr Agatston of SBD reccommends reduced fat dressings...so I would think one of the mayo "lite"
varieties would be ok...at least that is what I'm doing. I'm also trying to reduce the amount I use...LOL...because I LOVE my tuna salad and chicken salad with lots of mayo

Thanks so much Shelley. Christmas can't get here soon enough. I've asked for that book from dh. Hoping we can start by New Years.
