I am new to Low Carb Eating and confused about which plan to use. Just going by what I have heard I think the SBD would be more for me then Atkins. I already have the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet book, but have not read it. Would anyone know the differences between all of these? I would appreciate any help I can get. I just want to pick something and stick with it for once in my life. I need to lose over 100 lbs. and am getting afraid for my health if I don't stick with something soon.
Thanks so much,
Lisa

HI Lisa,
Welcome to LCE! This is a great place for info and support. I think I can shed some light on Atkins and SBD(south beach diet) for you, but I don't know anything about CAD. I did atkins for about 7 months this year, unfortunately, without much success. But, I must say, I did some things wrong that I was unaware of, and that may have contributed to my lack of success. I didn't GAIN wt, however, just maintained, gaining and losing the same 4-7 lbs over and over and over etc. I switched to SBD in October and find I am almost in the same boat again However, I have started blending the two plans and it is to early to tell if it will work for me. Sorry this is so long...
Bascially, Atkins is low carb of course, and doesn't restrict fat or protein, meaning you eat until you are satisfied, NOT STUFFED. SBD is LOWER CARB AND LOWER FAT . Both plans have a restrictive phase 1 or induction phase in which you "de-tox" the body of sugar, carbs, and cravings thereof. This phase lasts 2 weeks, then you move on to the next step or phase on the plan. I would highly reccommend you get the book for which ever plan you decide on. Hardly a day goes by that I don't refer to my book(s) for info. Also, there are lots of websites with info on low carb lifestyles, so you might want to do a google search and scope it out. In my opinion, you have to adopt this as a life style forever, to reap the benefits it has to offer. Even though I haven't had amazing results like others have in this community, I FEEL good, my daily heartburn and indigestion is a thing of the past, and I LOVE the food I get to eat, and I'm not hungry all the time like I was on the low fat woe. I have between 20-25 lbs to lose, and historically I'm a slow loser, so for me, the benefits still far out weigh the cons of the woe.
Pick your plan, get the book, jump in with total devotion, and post ofen and let us know how you are doing. Good luck on your journey
HTH

i recommend you get & read the book "the secret to low carb success" by laura richard. it compares all of the diets & explains them well. which ever plan you chose, you should read the book.

Hi,

You have gotten great advice and I agree with them. I am on SBD and I love it. What ever you choose I wish you the very best.
