| Hi! I finally bought the book. I started LC with the CA diet over three years ago. I then moved to Atkins. I have been on and off for the last two years. Has anyone gone from long time Atkins to South Beach? I started reading last night and the plan sounds very livable. I am just worried that I won't be able to get out of the Atkins mindset and move toward fruit and low fat cheeses etc. Please let me know if you were successful and share any tips you might have. | Hi! I think you'll find quite a few people of SB started with Atkins or another LC plan. The change over to SB was what I needed after 2 years on Atkins with only 10 lbs. lost, and no loss in a long, long time. In 4 months on SB I have lost 10 more lbs. and am only a few pounds from goal. I didn't have much trouble switching over to lower fat-- I'd been doing that most of my life! It was harder to get use to eating higher carb beans, cereals, fruits. Its nice, though, since you have a little wider variety of things you can eat, so it is a bit easier to eat more "normally". |

| I have been reading the book and I think I am going to like this WOE. After low carbing for the last few years I need a change. SB seems like the ticket. I still have a bit more to read before I really start this plan. I think my goal will be to start on Saturday. By that time I will have finished the book and gone grocery shopping to prepare. | I'm starting day 3 on SBD, but had been on Atkins last year after having my son. In my haste to lose the post-baby weight, I jumped in headfirst into Atkins, along with most everyone else at work. I didn't do my research, just listened to all of the sucesses of my friends. I have had irritable bowl syndrome for the past 20 years, and due to my lack of research, the extreme fat and red meat from Atkins WOE made me so very sick I found myself at the doctor. Long story short, I just gave up and freaked out about "diets" and just sat at my starting weight until last weekend when I was reading some email and found a link to SBD online or Prevention or something. I didn't get that "yuck" feeling in my mouth when I was reading the philosophy. I've read everything I can get my hands on so far, found receipes and havent touched a steak!!!! I'm looking at all of the before and after pics and feel very excited this time.... omg what happened to my butt? |
