I want this attempt to succeed, i.e., finding a plan and sticking to it. I am convinced that I need to work out a full menu plan for 7 days, just 7 days of meals with recipes, that I like. after that is accomplished, then another week, and on and on. If I find menus I can live with, foods that I will actually look forward to eating (hehehe), I think I can succeed. Every diet I try, I get in a rut and get very bored, and sick of the same couple of recipes or meals that I find palatable. Please share ideas for the different meals and snacks that you particularly like, along with recipes, and I'll try to put together a menu with recipes for week one. Any help is sincerely appreciated.

Welcome!!!! There is a recipe archive at the top of the page in the green boxes. Check it out, there's TONS of recipes there. I am doing Atkins, so I don't know if my menus would fit into your plan. I usually start my day with Flaxomeal cereal (recipe archive) or Mock Danish (I think that's in there too) Then for lunch I usually do leftovers from the night before. Dinner I have a meat and 2 veggies or a meat and a salad and a veggie. For snacks I have some kind of sweet treat I have made from the recipe archives or 1/4 cup of almonds or pistachios (hulled) or some other kind of nuts. I go in spurts as to what sweet treats I have, depending on what I've made and how long it last me. (I am the ony one LCing in my house, it's just DH and I....no kids left at home, and HE doesn't need to diet. )
What I have done is to start a notebook. When I find a recipe I like, I print it out and put it in that notebook. I also have Sharron Long's "Low Carb Cooking At Sharron's Place" and is a wonderful reference. It's available at Amazon.com. Sharron is one of OUR moderators. We are lucky to have her.

Thanks Barb, but a slight correction, if I may:

Extreme Lo-Carb Cuisine is available at Amazon -- use the link on the homepage of this site to help support our wonderful forums here. My first book, Low Carb Cooking at Sharron's Place, is only available here, as far as I know.

Blessings!

Hi mmmbiscuits.

In case you're not aware, a SBD cookbook is scheduled out in April. I've already purchased it at Amazon and it will ship when they get it in. Since this SBD is a little different than Atkins, I think it will be helpful to have rather although online resources are great too. Sharon's cookbook (Extreme Low Carb Cuisine) is good in that it provides lower fat modifications that one can use...just need to make sure they are on the "good fats" listed in SBD.

Some suggestions for snacks, if like me you don't want to eat nuts all the time. I do string cheese, peanut butter in celery (check out your PB for hidden sugars, try Krema brand or if you have a Meijer store, their store brand has no added sugar), or cut up veggies. The ricotta cheese desserts for phase 1 are pretty good, especially the mocha one. I tried a few of the recipes, the Oriental Salad is good, as are the Oven-Roasted Veggies. I can't remember any other recipes off the top of my head, and I have leant my book to a friend, but I will check it when I get it back and reply again.

I'm with ya, Tammy on the Oven Roasted Veggies being good. Love 'em! Smuckers also has a "natural" pb, with only peanuts and salt on the ingredients list. I'm not a huge fan of the ricotta dessert that I tried (he lemon one). I do eat nuts frequently, but am trying not to do too many of them (as I tend to do, particularly with pistachios). Other than that, I pretty much stick to meat and veggies right now...and use olive oil mostly for cooking.
