| Hello all, I've been follwing the low carb thing for a while off and on. I went off tried to eat fruit and more veggies while getting and hour of cardio a day and gained weight. 7 lbs actually. I am thinking of following the meal plans in the zone to a T for 2 weeks and see how i feel on it... Has anyone had great success if so, how long did it take you to lose? Lemme know Thanks, m |

| Hi msmrnd2 - I pretty well follow this methodology - but I do have a VERY strict WOE plan and I follow it rigidly. Portion sizes are critical for me and so is tightly controlled food group intake. I've lost weight over a number of years - with total over 100lbs. The last push since Easter 2005 has been about 36lbs. However, I emphasise - it wouldn't have worked for me unless I had a total plan in place - including food and exercise. Sometimes I think we do begin to improve our eating habits before we actually commit to, or design a plan and that's OK too. These life choices seem to arrive when we are ready for them. Good luck with it - visit the forum often - because research shows talking to others and identifying with their issues and choosing your own options from their action definitely helps stay on track. Best wishes. |

| I know that one of our moderators, BC, also had great success with the zone and has continued to maintain her new size for years, now. Maybe she'll pop in here and say a word or two.

| I eat all veggies, fruits and most grains, pulses and lentils, low-fat dairy and meat, chicken, fish one night's meal each weekly - using other protein sources for the rest. Using fresh foods, wholemeal grains, nuts, seeds with minimal processing, low carb, low sodiums, no sugars or condiments. |

| Hi m, I don't know if you'd call me a "great" success, but I'm happy with what the Zone did for me. In answer to your question, though, the Zone is not not intended to be a fast weight loss plan, and for most people, it isn't. My experience was that while the weight loss was not fast, it was steady, however.
