Hey all, I am happy to report that I believe that I've found 'the Zone!'
With a little trial and error as well as a bit of tweaking, the daily food choices are becoming a lot easier and I just can't believe how much food we're eating! It's great and we're not hungry, just as the program promised.
After one week, I am down 4 lbs. and although I do not expect the weight loss to continue at that rate, I am really enjoying the 'balance' that this way of eating has provided. Even my skeptical husband is now a believer. He has type II diabetes and has had to cut back on his medication since he is better able to control his blood sugar!
The tweaking came from realizing that our sensitivity to carbs made us both prematurely hungry when we ate very close to the 40carb/30pro/30fat level. By adjusting the carbs a bit to a 35carb/33pro/32fat level, the hunger AND the fogginess have completely disappeared and we are satisfied until (and usually beyond!) our next snack or meal time. It's just amazing that the tiny tweak make such a difference!
While I do not yet feel confident enough to use the eyeball method, I'm finding that my nutrition software has been a godsend for this purpose. Well...THAT and a good food scale. And it gets easier every day as the more I work with the plan, the more I understand how to tweak the numbers.
So there you have it. So far, I'm a believer. Yes, it's true, one can switch from Atkins to the Zone with success.
