Hi everyone,
I have been on the Paleo Diet for 8 weeks (my doctor is thrilled because he is too) and I'm 56 years old. I have been menopausal for 2 years and yesterday, I got a big surprise! I'm sure you know what I mean. My question is...is there anyone else in the group who has had this happen as a result of change in diet?
I'm going to my OB/GYN anyway to have it checked out, but I thought it might be a side effect of the drastic change of going Paleo.
Anyone?

Doesn't seem likely that the diet is behind it, Mae. I'm glad you're seeing your gyn about it, since this sort of thing should be checked out.

I read somewhere (now wish I could remember where) that some doctors used a paleo diet to help women who were menopausal, or nearly so, to "reverse time," as it were. Many of these women were able to conceive again (this was their goal.)

PERISH THE THOUGHT!!! LOL The LAST thing I want is to get pregnant!

I went to the GYN and they said that most times when that happens, it's nothing, but they took a biopsy just in case.
If I don't hear anything by the end of this week, then it was nothing.

I hear ya, Mae.

I've had a few glitches throughout my peri and menopausal times - including an "encore" appearance of TOM after a year - which resulted in a biopsy of one sort or another. (I'm 55) All has been well. I hope the same for you!

Oh, I think I remember now where I read it. I'm pretty sure it was Loren Cordain's "Paleo Diet" book, in case you'd like to read more on the subject.
