Default Suggestions on how to handle Thanksgiving?

I'm trying to make a "game plan" for Thanksgiving and suggestions would be appreciated! My mother usually does a veggie plate (raw veggies) so I'm going to munch on those a lot. I am making two different broccoli casseroles--one traditional one, and one just with broc and cheese for me. It's going to be difficult to see and smell those foods I can't have, such as dressing, mashed potatoes, dumplings, and the loads of yummy desserts. How have you low carb veterans faced this battle?

I'm going to have my 1st servings of as much vegies as I can take - until I explode. I'm going to look silly with a huge plate of salad but everyone can look all they want - lol. Then I'll have a little of this and that, bites so that I can enjoy thanksgiving too with a small piece of pie at the end. That is my plan. I'm thinking about bringing sf jello with me to eat for my 2nd food - lol. Whatever it takes is my moto!

Sorry, Calico! I haven't been online in a couple of days! Looks like I'm too late to help you.
I had mashed cauli w/gravy and a piece of non-dairy, lowcarb pecan pie today....scope out the recipe section: by the time the next family feast rolls around, you'll be ready.

I managed to be strong and did not break over! I stuck with turkey breast, bell pepper slices, and celery w/ no fat cream cheese. It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be to pass over the dressing and mashed potatoes, but oh, the desserts were *so* tempting!! Sugar-free jello w/ a dollop of cool whip had to suffice.

I definitely need to take some time today and search the recipes for dessert options. I am really tired of SF jello!

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!
