Default Was nearly at Christmas goal, but then...

...I blew it. I weighed last Wednesday and couldn't believe it---I was only 1/2 lb from my goal for Christmas! I guess I got a little lax afterward because when I weighed again on Sunday, I was up 1.5 lbs. I've not been careful about what I've been eating since then, so I am sure I'll be up a bit more this Sunday weigh in. On a somewhat related note, I was a bit hurt that none of my family mentioned my weight loss since the last time I saw them, which was at Thanksgiving and nearly 15 lbs ago. I'm not surprised that my sister didn't say anything (long back story there) but I thought that at least my mother would have said something. I know it's not a lot of weight considering how much I want/need to lose overall, but heck, I worked hard to get it off and other people have noticed/commented. I guess I'm just being too sensitive.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for a happy and healthier 2006 to all!

I'm so sorry that none of them mentioned your weight loss :( I'm in the same boat... my DH sees the difference, I see the difference, but no one else has mentioned it at all.

I hope you'll join us in the Valentine's challenge

Calico,

I want to say this in a positive way and not sound like a lecture, but I just don't have the right words. So I'm just going to say it and hopfully I come across in the right way.

Don't put so much stock (energy) into what someone else does. This is the time to put all of your energy into yourself? Losing weight or changing anything about yourself is a personal journey. You want to captain that ship, don't veer off course because of something someone said or didn't say. I know easier said then done. We have all been there.

You know your doing well and that's all that matters. You don't need validation from anyone. Like you said you and your sis have a history. If people don't choose to be supportive or at least make mention of your weight loss that is entirely their issue, NOT YOURS.

Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.

Your Fabulious and worthy of all that you are. Love what you have accomplished don't hate what you haven't.

Just remember that we are here for you.

Okay I'm climbing off my soap box now.

Katie, my DH also has told me he can see/tell a difference, which is nice.

Rebecca, you are absolutely right in what you said. I know I shouldn't let it bother me, and I'm working on that.

I'm in for the Valentine's Day challenge. My birthday is about the same time, and I've already set a weight goal for that. As for how much I need to lose to meet the goal, I'll know when I weigh on Sunday!

Thanks for the support. It truly does help!

Calico,
Rebecca hit the nail on the head. You are losing weight for you, and no one else. Picture yourself as a freight train, heading full speed on your low carb tracks. Don't let anyone try to push you onto the siding, slowing or stopping your progress. You'll get to that skinny station at the end of the tracks!
