Default Chromium Confusion

Hi, I'm new here; fresh off of trying the Shangri La Diet for 2 months. Have tried Atkins in the past to no avail. Determined the portion size was my problem there.
So now I want to try the Carb Addict CALP program. My query is regarding what the Drs. Heller mention in their book (and on their website) regarding the amount of GTF Chromium to take. They recommend Solgar brand and state that one a day will provide 200 micrograms of chromium. The Solgar GTF Chromium is sold in 10 or 20 microgram pills. Various brands of Chromium Picolinate come in 200 microgram pills; however, the Drs. recommend against this form.
So, is the portion to be one 20 microgram Solgar GTF Chromium, or some other amount? Hope someone out there can clear this up for me!

Bikingbug,
Welcome to LCE

I just perused my CALP book and I think the Hellers mean 1 gtf chromiumn cap a day, 20mcg, taken with water only, and not with a meal.
The gtf Chromiumn is also known as chromiumn polynicotinate. I use the Nature's Way brand.(I happen to be out at the moment, so a trip to the hfs is on my list).

Cool Re: Chromium Confusion

Thank you, Shelley, for your response. This may become a non-issue for me though.
Purchased Solaray GTF Chromium in 200 mcg strength. It is produced from Brewer's yeast as the Doctors Heller recommend. (They are adament about not using Chromium Picolinate or any variety with niacin as a binder.)

Started taking it about a week ago. Yesterday I had unusual pain in my upper chest. Lasted for several hours. Today I developed the same discomfort.

fter searching the internet & reading about some people being allergic to chromium supplements, I proceeded to drink several glasses of water. This must have diluted the effects as the pain eased off.

I think I will stop taking this for a few days, then try it again. If the pain returns, the Chromium goes.
