Smile Back in The Zone

Hey Bren,

Just thought I'd check in. I'm back to my Zone / CAD plan as before and thought I'd touch base with you. It has been a long time!!

I posted a recipe in the cooking forum for a chicken soup -- rounded it out with some whole grain crackers for a nice Zone meal

I remember once you telling me that you Zone your meals almost instinctively now... I'm finding that I do that as well. I think that is a good thing

Have a happy day!!

Hi Sharon,

I'm not Bren, but I thought I'd stop by and say "hi!" I too am a Zoner and am in maintenance now. Brenda helped me so much in the beginning along with Beachfox. I pretty much owe my success to them!

Like you said, after doing this a while, you can pretty much do it instinctively no matter where or what you are eating which can be very helpful this time of year with all the holidays rapidly approaching.

I hope you have lots of success with this plan.

Donna

Thanks RV

I started out my LC woe about 5 years ago on the Zone. I did very strict Atkins for about 2 years then due to health issues have been decidedly off plan for some time. I'm hoping that even though I'm still very limited in what I can fix for myself, that I'll be able to Zone it and get to losing again.

Blessings!!
Sharron

Woohoo Sharon!!!! Even with the prednesone (and the holidays!) you seem to be right on track! Of course, I have to ask...are you weighing and measuring everything and working things through FitDay? Even though I dread having to do it, I must admit the WOE would be wayyyyyyyyyy more difficult if I didn't follow through with these tools.

KUTGW!!!

Hey Sharron and Donna!!! So glad to hear you gals are doing so well!

Donna, I've found I can do ok for a while without tracking, but then almost without my noticing it, slowly the portions and percentages start living a life of their own. Case in point, this past year or so I very, very slowly gained pounds--almost imperceptibly incremental because I don't weigh often. So as of October 1, I've been weighing and tracking and am back in my comfort zone again.

I will say that I've been doing a combo of Protein Power and Zone to shake things up a bit, and it's been very successful in getting me serious again.

Brenda:

I had visited the board a while back and noticed that you had jumped over to Protein Power. Yes...sometimes you DO need to shake things up.

If you remember, I started the Zone wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in Sep 2005 at 153 lbs. By July of 2006, I weighed 115 lbs! Now, I teter between 119 and 117 which seems to be a place that I am most comfortable. Since leaving this board a while back, I have focused mostly on strength training and because of my experience with the 40/30/30 way of eating, I devote a lot of my time to helping other people who are interested in developing a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I still credit you guys for helping me get started on this WOE and since I have the opportunity now, I want to say "thank you!"

I'm really glad to stopped by!!!!

Donna

I'm glad you stopped by, too, Donna! Hey, you did all the hard work, so the credit goes to you!

I don't have time to track -- that is what I particularly like about my "plan"... I do a criss-cross between CAD and the Zone. I do the eyeball method of zoning, generally, mostly just trying to be balanced.

Don't have time, (or really the ability to measure), though I'll probably regret it later. Right now it is all I can manage to balance on my scale! Down another 1/2 pound this morning, though -- broken that first decade

Truthfully, all I'm really doing, when it flat comes down to it, is increasing my protein and decreasing my carbs so that they are in a more balanced fashion. I'm feeling better, more energetic and losing, so I'll take it!

Seems like my personal Zone was lighter on the carbs and a bit heavier on the fat when I was measuring precisely a couple of years ago. I have just been doing this plan off and on for so long that when I do pay attention, it is almost second nature.

Speaking of balanced: I had a yummy taco salad for lunch :fork:

Donna, congrats on your loss -- and Bren, you too! You are always an inspiration
