Default Revival in this room!

Hello,
Well, it seems like this part of the low carb forum has been neglected for a while.

I do the C.A.L.P. and have been successful doing it. I really do well with this program since I cant not eat carbs, not even for 2 weeks! So eating this way helps me cause I know for supper I can have some carbs. Real bread, if I want to or a real sugared dessert if Ichoose to.

Today I have had (it is 230 here)

Morning vitamins & then coffee (2) with creamer (Hate that creamer but Im out of cream) I measure my cream tho and only add 1 tbsp in each cup <when I have it>
Hand full of almonds, prob around 12-15 and a large piece of beef jerky.
SF hot cocoa
For supper tonight Im having leftover beef stew that I made last night, will add a biscuit to that, 2 cups of salad or maybe cole slaw, and jello with whipped cream for dessert.
Snakc mid evening (around 11:00pm will be more jello) Eating jello h elps your fingernails and hair, it has a lot of gelatin in it.

So thats what Im doing ... I dont weigh myself, dont have a reliable scale, so I use the tape meansure.

Heres my measurements: 2/7/2006 (I did this almost a year ago!!! Time to get going!)
neck 17
wrist 8
forearm 11 1/2
upperarm 18
bust 54
waist 51
stomach 65 ohoh!!
hip 50
knee 26 1/2 YIKES!!! My granddaughters waist is this size!
calf 20 1/2
ankle 12 1/2
I presume my weight is close to 300 lbs.:crying: And so I HAVE to do something.

I started with this curent woe on Jan. 8, 2007 ... each Monday I am going to take current measurments and update my data. Will keep a running record here ... YIKES!

So come on all you CALP'ers let cheer each other on.

Good for you!!

I do a compromise between CAD and the Zone. It kinda depends on who is cooking and how the day is going

Did I read your menu right that you had coffee with creamer, beef jerky and almonds only until dinner time? Remember, you can eat veggies the early part of the day, just keep them to things that are virtually carb-free like salad, celery, asparagus, spinach... Also, fresh food would be better than beef jerky, unless your jerky is home made. Even then, you are setting yourself up for trouble by not eating enough early in the day.

Here's a typical menu when I'm doing a CAD (CALP) day:

breakfast: 2 or 3 egg cheese omelette with ham and mushrooms
lunch: Salad with chicken, sunflower seeds, cheese and ranch or Italian dressing (Bernsteins)
Dinner: Reward meal
Snack: Ham and almonds

There. I hope that helps

Continued blessings on your plan!!!

I just started on CALP. After 1 year on Weight Watchers, I realized that I am a true Carb Addict and I need to be on a different program, so I am starting over at the exact weight I was when I started WW a year ago. I had tried CALP about 5 years ago and lost about 30lbs & kept it off for quite awhile. I guess we will see how it works out this time. I have heard that subsequent tries at low carb are not always successful, although I don't know why, or if you just need to wait a little longer for it to "kick in" so to speak. Anyone know?

Hi,

Yes, that day all I had eaten was that bunch of things ... I do eat more usually, but nothing that has many carbs during the day then a good supper. As for the jerky, it was leftover from Christmas, I dont usually buy it and I do eat fresh very very often. That is a banner thing for me, "Eat real foods, fresh foods, not boxed or prepacked." Im not much on breakfast, but like to eat hard boiled eggs, warm them in the microwave and add a bit of s&p and butter.
Love them veggies, love them avocados, :jumpgreenasparagus yesssssssss, I eat lots of salads, with lots of veggies on it, so thanks for worrying 'bout me and thanks for reading my post!!!

I did have the homemde beef stew that night, with cole slaw, and toast. 2 SF jellos for dessert w/cream, 1 tbsp.

Im happy tho, for the 2 inches Ive lost.

I follow the CALP, which is Carobhydrate Addicts Lifespan Program (For peopel in their 40's, 50's 60's and beyond) It is written by the same peopel who worte the CAD, I belive, and it is a later, updated version of the same diet or way of eating.
I have a difficult time doing Atkins, and this woe works for me. Buy the book, read it study it and see if its something you might like to try .
