Martine, in order to have the best chance to be successful following the Atkins approach, you should really read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. That explains the various steps and provides you with a good starting point on your weight loss journey. Here is a link to the Atkins website that has a lot of the information about the Atkins approach.

Hello dear, I am 18 years old and want to loose some weight. I regularly exercise but I eat a lot, so I'm always at the same weight except for when I make muscle. So I'm trying a diet to loose weight. I'm reducing calories from like 1800 calories to like 1200 calories. I'm also a student so I keep it high in carbohydrates including Omega 3 supplements. Is this a good diet plan? What are the problems? I want to improve the diet without harming my student life or rather improving my student thinking in the progress. Would you help me?

Hello.

I'm not clear on what the omega supplments have to do with carb levels, or what being a student has to do with either. This is a support forum for low carb eating plans, so that's specifically what we can help with here.

If you decide to follow a reduced-carb eating plan, you can get lots of support and advice, though! We'll usually start by suggest you learn about some of the plans out there, select one that seems appealing to you, and get the correseponding book for your chosen plan, which serves as a roadmap for your journey and is very important to your success.

Whatever you decide, best of luck to you. Peace out.

One of the most important things about doing induction is learning to eat real food. Stay away from processed foods if at all possible, do not eat the "frankenfoods", like low carb bars and such. And learning to eat a variety of foods that are induction friendly, not eating the same old thing over and over again. I think that's a trap some people get into, and then they get really bored with their eating.

And don't forget to drink plain old ordinary water. (I'm guilty of drinking coffee and tea first, then water later, but I need to change that.)

I hope you find success with this way of eating. It's helped a lot of us to lose weight, and to get much healthier.
