Eat Fat And Grow Slim

I have read about a book published a long time ago, in the 1800s if I remember correctly, may be wrong there called Eat Fat and Grow Slim. Since it is such an old book, I was betting it was on line somewhere. I think I may have found it.

Haven't read it yet but here is the link

I believe one of the earliest publications was William Banting's Letters on Corpulence.

The first time I ever heard of low carb was in Dr. Herman Taller's "Calories Don't Count". I have a copy of it. This was in the 60s. My brother lost a lot of weight on it. The diet called for drinking corn oil every day, (for the linoleic acid, he said) eating corn oil margarine, and he allowed potatoes, but not a lot of other starch. You could have gluten bread, however. And you were allowed some milk. It really worked for my brother. He ate a lot of fish and french fries. And got really thin. But it wasn't something that could be sustained in the long run.

It's something how there are so many variations of low carb, and each one works for a certain group of people, but another plan might not work at all.

I believe i had a copy of that book once. I read it but never really followed the diet. I once lost 12 pounds on a grape fruit diet. I also ate a cottage cheese and hotdog diet, which i guess was low carb. That was back when i really wasn't fat i just thought i was. Judy
