Has anyone tried the Sommersize plan by Suzanne Sommers? She isn't exactly low carb but she does understand the blood sugar problem.

I just would like to eat more fruit.

I tried Somersizing for 3 months, also because I wanted to eat more fruit. I would eat 7-8 small pieces of fruit, wait 20 minutes or more and have 2 cups of Grape Nuts and Fat-free milk. This resulted in my experiencing ravenous hunger the rest f the day, no matter how low-carb my food choices were the rest of the day. It didn't matter how much food I would eat at a meal, I would be extremely hunger about an hour afterward. During this time, I went on a weight roller-coaster, losing and gaining the same 4-6 pounds, over and over again. Once I realized this wasn't working for me, I went back to CALP and lost the ravenous hunger and my weight stabilized.

When the Somersize discussion board was working, they suggested limiting the carbs to a couple of times a week and keeping the rest of the eating LC.

The WOE I am doing now, allows me small amounts of fruit at a time, paired with some protein, so I don't have the wild blood-sugar swings. I eat every 2 1/2- 3 hours, so I don't allow myself to get ravenous. And, I am slowly losing weight again.

Her recipes look absolutely scrumptious to me. My mom's always raving about some Candied Tomatoes (something or other?) recipe that's low in carbs, and I'd love to try it. She's such an adorable lady.

Somersizing worked for me. I'm on level two of her program now and am holding steady. I love her WOE, it's not as restricting as Atkins.

When I read her book 2 things popped out at me. This plan would not work for me or anyone else with impaired insulin response. 2. Her recipes are worth the price of the book and many are suitable for any low carb plan.

I agree that her recipes in ALL her books are worth it.

They are simply scrumptious, and with a few exceptions, basically low carb. Very creative too, I might add.

Suzzane's sweetener is Somersweet. It's made with Oligofructose, Inulin, Fructose, Sprouted Mung Bean extract, and Acesulfame K. She claims it has no aftertaste, but some of the people who have used at who are Somersizing say that they need to use less than the recipes call for. Suzanne claims it has no insulin effect from using it.

I have not used any of the sea salt rubs. I did notice that one the Suzanne Somers community forum, people have posted recipes for making your own sea salt rubs.

I haven't tried it, but I read the rules of this diet. I don't agree with many things in there.

Currently I am on dr. Hay's diet, which is also food combining diet. This one has some different food groups that can or cannot be eaten together.

For example SS puts beans with carbs, where beans has so much proteins that they cannot be there...in her diet there is lots of different "wrong" things.

But I am not going to criticize anybody. What ever works for you to eat and stay healthy!
