I am putting this topic here as i really dont know where else to talk about it. If this is not right please help move it.

Has anyone tried the Schwarzbein Principle eating? I have read her first book and 3/4 though her 2nd book. I am nervous doing her plan with so many carbs in it. I am doing Akins right now with thoughts on incorperating her plan with PP and Akins?

I always knew something was wrong with my adrenals(burnout)for about 10 years and never knew what to do about it. Her books make total sense and give great information.

Maybe I need to work though this with some of your thoughts and low carb wisdom. Please help.

Wow Carol,

I just posted in my journal about SP & SPII. I just finished the SP and I am a 1/4 into SPII. I am also nervous about the carbs, but when she explains it...it makes sense to me. I haven't decided if I am going to do the healing plan yet. I want to finish SPII before making my decision. However, I did increase my carbs a tad bit just to compensate for my increase of exercise. Please keep posting. I would love to share thoughts with you about the Schwarzbein Principle.

Carol,

I think that increasing carbs in a controlled manner is ok. It's when they are uncontrolled, it can be a problem. I went from CALP (carbs at one meal a day, but don't count many at that meal) to a diet that allowed carbs at every meal, but only 1/2 cup at a time. That way, one doesn't overdo.

I think the Schwarzbein Principle is the same idea, controlled carbs.

Shoot girls :( I just typed up a message and hit send and it didnt take. Arrrrrgghhhhhh.

First off please forgive me for not replying sooner. As you know the boards have been having problems and I havent been able to reply much or get messages.

Kelli and Kerry. I am glad we to share thoughts and discuss the books with you all. I really found her interesting and many of her ways so true. She has opened my eyes up to what I suspected all along yet my docs think I am nuts! They wont run tests or take me serious. I just wish she would allow NYers to do the test that she recommends through her office but she wont. I have no idea why NY is left out. Please let me know your thoughts and comments on her books. If you wanna discuss it please let me know. If you decided to follow her eating plan let me know. I am not sure I am ready to take that advice. I am a bit scared of adding all that in just now.

Ilse Thanks so much for responding. I have tried to up my carbs but find that even the small amount of 30 carbs at times is to much. It just drives me nuts. I want to see more weight loss and I am not. I am also reading up PP. Not as excitig to read but lots of info.

Hi Carol,

I am still reading SP II and like you, I am still nervous about the amount of carbs on the SP menu. However, I am going to try a modified version. I will let you know once I work all the kinks out. I feel certain that the SP is the way to go. It just makes too much sense to me to ignore.

Kelli do you suffer from adrenal burnout? Do you identify with any problems she discussed? You dont have to answer if thats to personal. Just looking for others that are going through the same thing so we can encourge each other! Your weight is doing wonderful as mine isnt. I really think I will see some results soon. I am healing! I can tell. I am NOT getting every cold from my daughter and handling stess a bit better.

Hi Carol,

I thought the way I was feeling was normal until I read SPII. I figured as longs as I kept LCing and working out, I'd be okay. Now I realize that all the coffee I was drinking was NOT helping me. I can relate to another problem. It is over exercising. I really didn't think that would be a bad thing. LOL

As I get further and further into the book, my eyes are opening. I catch myself saying, "now that makes sense," or "wow, I didn't know that."

Carol, I am sure your weight loss will come. I have a feeling it will take a bit longer with Diane's plan, but I'm sure we will feel better as we lose. I am all for encouraging each other and keeping tabs on our results. Once I figure out how I'm going to implement her plan, I will let you know.

I'm about 1/4 way into SP II. Am I missing out on anything by not reading the first book? Should I stop and go out and buy it?

Hi Emily,
I truly enjoyed SP and I am half way through SPII. The 2nd book is more detailed and is a bit more to read. Keep reading SPII, but once you finish you can get the first book. I think you can benefit from both books.

I decided to get the book. I'm 1/2 way through and am finding it very thought provoking. When I finish I would like to discuss it with yall. Why can't the experts agree? The consumer has to sift through all the info and use trial and error to see which plan or plans are on the right track.

Well, I've decided that I am going to try the healing plan. I'm not sure what my level of damage is, but according to SPII if you don't know, just consider yourself as insulin resistant and adrenal damaged. That is fine with me. So Carol, have you decided what you are going to do?

jumping in here. I bought SP I a couple weeks ago for my diabetic mother. Turns out I think I'm going to use it too. I started yesterday. I feel pretty good today. I don't know if I'll lose weight yet but at least I'm doing something healthy for myself.

Hi Bear,

I'll also be new at this. I've been LCing for over two years and it has helped me lose weight, but I am hoping that SP & SPII will help me find the balance I've been craving.

I just finished SPII last night and I am anxious to start my healing plan. I was wondering if any of you started yet? I am doing the plan for an insulin sensitive and burned out adrenal glands. According to my current weight, I'm suppose to have 10 to 12 ounces of protein daily and here's the difficult part...3 meals a day each meal consisting of 20 gm of carbs and 2 snacks each consisting 20g carbs. I am still in shock. Although the carbs are good carbs, I'm lucky to get in 35g of carbs DAILY. Anyone else nervous about this? I'd love to hear your thoughts

I'm on the 15 grams per meal, 7.5 grams per 2 snacks. (60 total). I can live with that but my problem the last two days is going over! Yesterday I had around 80 grams.

I am reelin' it in today.

Bear, are you noticing any weight loss yet? I'm afraid to add that many carbs back into my WOE. Also, are you taking the recommended supplements?

Well, I decide to take the plunge. I went shopping today and got all my food to prep my meals for a few days. I decided to use the healing plan in SP instead of SPII. That means 15g per meal and 7g per snacks (2). I am so excited. I will post all my results in my journal. Hopefully this thread will stay active so I can compare notes.
