Ok, I have been remembering to put like 1 tsp. of ACV in my water all day long (each pint and have had 3 so far), so I've been consuming it the whole day. My bloating seems to have lessened and the crampiness I'm having is diminished too. Still no TOM tho. AND absolutely no dairy today so far either, not even my beloved Kefir. I think I should tuck those babies in the frig the rest of the week to suspend them. I have about a quart of strained kefir saved up already. Oh how I miss my kefir.

Well I got some more ACV yesterday.
My mom went to GNC for me and the only kind they had was there own brand. I hate it! It is soooo strong! I have to really dilute it to drink it. I can't wait for it to be gone to get another bottle of Braggs!

It's to bad about your kefir Barb, but maybe going "Off your Moo" is just what you need to jump start your weight loss again.
It sure does seem to be working for you Sharron!

Wow Barb! That is one UNHAPPY smilie.

My kefir babes are having a "winter vacation" right now too. Hanging out in fresh milk in the fridge seems to actually do them good. The next batch is always extra creamy and good!

My DH and kiddo's are enjoying the kefir I had made up already. And I think of all the dairy that is what I miss the most - and it is the healthiest. But, when I get this weight off or at least dropping down good I'll add a little of that back.

    Hang in there!

Ooooooo, Jen! I'll have to remember that about the GNC brand. Sharron says the same thing about the TJ brand. I'll try to stick with the Bragg's.

Barb, you could keep making your kefir and save it for cheese making, too. Even with a gallon of kefir, it produces so much whey you'd only end up with a forth or less. Your DIL could probably use it if you aren't doing dairy by then.

Or you might be perfectly fine with aged kefir, or drinking the whey only, which doesn't contain milk proteins.

Yeah, I have made the cheese, a LOT. I could always make some more. But I think I will make some smoothies up for my DD. She has intestinal problems and was on antibiotics a lot as a pre-schooler (lots of ear infections), gets sick a LOT, has some wierd skin rashes that show up now and then. So she would benefit greatly from it. I will have her do like a quarter cup to start with, once a day and build up to more. I asked her if she would make it herself, she said no. So I'll give her mine for now. I just hate to not have it be used.

I did ACV ALL day!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!

I was really busy today. There is a gal at church who had to have MAJOR surgery -- hysterectomy and massive repair to the abdominal cavity, etc. She's a hurting unit!

Anyway, I fixed dinner for them and my family this morning, while I was teaching school.

I completely forgot my ACV nearly all day

I did manage to get 2 doses in. Bad me!!!

    Blessings!

    Hey all!

Barb, I have faith that you'll soon have a visit from the Whoosh fairy. It'll happen, I just know it!

I've been doing great w/ the ACV, drinking it in the AM before breakfast, all day long in my water bottle and at night w/ dinner and before bed.

I bought some Helios kefir last week at Wholefoods and it was terrible. Maybe it was just the consistancy but I couldn't finish a glass. Given the raves it receives on this thread, I might have to consider growing my own.

Shannon, that is so great you are doing well with the ACV. I'd caution you though, if you didn't like the store bought kefir, you may not like the other either...

Do you like buttermilk? It is much stronger tasting than that.

    Blessings!

I am still aquiring a taste for kefir. I can't drink it plain at all. It totally turns my stomach. But I make a shake or smoothy out of it and it is fabulous! I just add 1 Tbs pure protien powder with 6 oz of kefir and 2 or 3 dashes of raspberry s/f syrup and blend.

I am still trying out how long to let it ferment before straining it. I think I like it at about 24 hours.

Do you know if the lactose is gone by then?

I am still forcing down this horrid GNC brand ACV...shiver.

Sharron, I don't know if I like buttermilk. I don't think I've ever had it.

I just ordered a trial pack of DaVinci Syrups and am going to make a "ThinJen" smoothy before I decide no on the kefir.

    Thanks for your advice!

Another thing Shannon...Make sure the kefir is good and cold. It tastes much better that way!

Maybe I missed it on here, but I have a question about the ACV. I went to the Dr. yesterday for a throat/sinus infection and he put me on 250 mg. of Amoxicillin. There goes my intestinal flora, right? Anyways, I was wondering if the ACV could help me on this front.

As for the kefir....i haven't tried it yet, but the kefir smoothies sound wonderful. Maybe I'll get the nerve to try this food.

BTW, with the posts I have read, I am "geeked" to start with the ACV! Thank you for starting this thread Sharron.

Jen, I don't know if there's any way to say whether or not all the lactose is gone at 24 hours. But I'd say probably not. There were some posts on that subject on Dom's site a bit ago. If I have time, I'll try to find them.

However, my favorite kefir is fermented 24 hours and then aged probably a week or more in the fridge where it continues to ferment slowly. It'll make your eyeballs pop out I would assume much of the lactose is gone by then, but there will be variables I'm sure.

Shannon, the kefir would help re-establish intestinal flora. The ACV would help the intestinal environment, but the re-establishment of the "good guy" bacteria is a priority, and that's either kefir or probiotic supplements.
