I buy Bragg's or Hain's...whichever the HFS has at the moment.
I use it mostly like regular vinegar; in dressings, etc. I figure it is better than regular vinegar 'cause it has nutritional properties. I have tried putting some in water, and sweetening it with Splenda and/or stevia, and it tastes ok, but it does tend to upset my stomach. So, for me, it is more of an ingredient than a supplement.

Report on how I'm doing with the vinegar:

REALLY WELL!!!

My appetite is greatly reduced for the first time in ages. This is a major step in the right direction for me.

I always used an expensive digestive enzyme in the past, but I felt like maybe I was just throwing my money down the toilet, if you know what I mean! Then I went off them completely. I think this has been one of those "missing pieces" I've been trying to find.

I have no idea about weight or inches since I'm still in a boot cast and on crutches. I'll let you know if there is any change when I can weigh and measure.

This is just so huge for me. In the past, whenever I was injured, my eating went out of control. I've always gained weight. This time, however, I believe will be different. As I said, I'll keep you posted

Blessings!

Wow! Sharron, that's great. I trust your judgment, so I think I'll be pulling out my bottle of ACV and trying it, too.

How much are you taking?

Beth, it depends alot on the size of the meal I'm going to be eating, but I take between 1 and 1 1/2 teaspoons. At first, I felt like I "needed" more, so I took about 1 tablespoon -- but I only did that like 3 times.

I really notice when I don't take it. I don't feel like I'm processing my food as well, if that makes sense. I guess the biggest thing, though, is the appetite issue. Ever since my dad got terminal, then passed on, I've been struggling with appetite in general. I've had several serious illnesses/injuries in between too. All of that has added up to some weight gain. I'm thrilled that I finally am getting things put back together!

Ok, Sharron, I have to tell you... you got me to try it again.

I have been doing the *vinegar thang* for the past 3 days (last did this 5 years ago...) and I feel pretty good!
I am putting 2 tsp. in 8 oz. of water 3x day.

It may be my imagination -- or the power of suggestion -- but I really do feel like it's curbing my appetite!
Still waiting for that *extra energy* to kick in... but overall, I feel really good.
I'll let y'all know how it goes again in about a week or so...

Summer

I know I already posted to this today, but I continually am amazed at this!

We had to go to the bank. I haven't been out of the house for a week Had the "coop me ups" in a bad way, so I suggested we hit Jack in the Box for lunch. It was 12:30 when we left the house, but I took my vinegar before we left.

Then we had to run a bunch of errands BEFORE we could go get lunch. Under normal circumstances I would have been FAMISHED and probably a bit out of control (mostly because of low blood sugar issues, I suspect.)

Now, I did order a 99 cent burger (without the bun) on the side cuz' I felt like I needed extra protein, but STILL

I ONLY ATE 1/3 OF MY SALAD!!!!!!

I don't know if anyone can possibly understand how amazing this is. Normally, I would have eaten the burger plus my whole chicken club salad. I wouldn't have been looking for more after that because the salads really are huge, but I would have eaten every last scrap!!!!

I'm stunned.

Enough for now.

Blessings!

Well, I have my own miracle story to tell!

Sharron, I did not know about the vinegar/blood glucose connection until you told me...
Well, after breakfast this morning I had another high bg reading [140 ] -- not terrible, but enough to concern me.
I went and took my apple cider vinegar, but then I started to wonder what its effect would be.
Within 30 minutes of taking the vinegar, my bg was down to 99!
Is that even possible???
I checked it twice to make sure.

I'm becoming a believer...

Summer,

I just realized you said you took it AFTER eating. Is that your norm?

My doc started me on this for digestive enzymes. It is to be taken BEFORE meals. I usually take it while I'm preparing the meal.

Maybe this will make a greater difference still??

Oh, yes, I ususally take it BEFORE eating -- about 30-60 minutes before (is that too long?), but I just thought I would try it to see what happens...

Unfortunately, I had another very high reading today (164 ). I did the same thing -- took the vinegar right after the high reading and within ~40 minutes, my bg was down to 119.

I told my dh it reminded me of swimming pool chemistry. When your pH gets too high, you add acid to bring it down rapidly.
When my bg gets too high, adding my *acid* (vinegar) seems to help bring it down quickly.
But for the most part, I use it between meals...

Summer, I think it should be more like 15 minutes, tops. I often take it just as we are sitting down to the table.

The presciption enzymes I took before, I was supposed to take them 15 minutes before food -- not any longer than that.

Could that be part of the fluctuations in your bgs?

I do know some folks who took their enzymes after eating, but that always seemed backwards to me.

Maybe you need to hit it on both sides? OR maybe you need a higher dose? How much are you taking?

I'm really thankful that it is bringing your bgs down. I guess, in the long run, that is what is most important. Though, I do wish they weren't spiking at all...

(((HUGS)))

Aha!

I will definitely try using it right before eating (~10-15 minutes before).
That indeed might help.
Thanks Sharron!
