I love the natural remedies for just about anything. I opened an Herb Shoppe a few years back (didn't make it) and studied lots about herbal remedies. ACV is right up there. It irks me how people just pooh-pooh it all. If it isn't drug company made, how can it work? WELL, herbs and such are Natural medicine that've been around forever. Give me natural anytime.

Sorry that link didn't work for you, I'll try to find another one. It had GREAT pictures of the Kombucha "Mushroom"

Okay, here's some other sites, hopefully at least one will work for you. If not, do a search on Yahoo or Google and search on "Kombucha Tea Mushroom" and see what pops up.

http://www.earthcalls.com/kombucha.htm

http://www.awakening-healing.com/Kombucha_Tea.htm - good one for instructions, but no pictures

http://www.thevitaminlady.com/VLkombucha.htm - has a FABULOUS picture!!!!

http://healing.about.com/library/weekly/aa030698.htm - has some links with possibilities

HTH!!!!

I am trying to read everything on here regarding this apple cider vinager. I just bought some Braggs for hubby and me. I havent taken it yet. Not sure what I should start out with and do I put it in water? I will probably have to add a bit of stevia to it as sometimes I gag at vinager. I do want the energy and weight loss. Do you take it before eating, during or after?? Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Blessings,

Carol

Barb ya know I made that tea ages ago. A friend at work told me about it. I tried it and it wasnt to bad. The directions I had were to drink so many ounces in the morning before anything else. Not sure what it did for me as I was pretty sickly back then with sinus/allergies/asthma and STRESS at work/home. So I cant verify what its benefits were to me. Oh I will say it regulated my period better. I stopped it as I was afraid it was causing problems for me insted of seeing the benefits.

This brings back memories though. Barb I didnt know you worked in the herbal field! Thats so cool. Sorry your business didnt work out. This kind of knowledge is so powerful and so many ppl dont want to know about these neat remadies

Blessings,

Carol

Carol,

I would do as my doc suggested at the beginning of this thread: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon before each meal. Take it about 15 minutes to 1/2 hour before is what seems to work for me.

I'm not a doctor, but I know I'm feeling better and more in control!

Barb, I'm reading about this tea. It sounds amazing!

I had interest a few years ago to become an herbalist. Isn't that funny? I avoid MDs as much as I possibly can...

Blessings!

Amazing list of benefits from the kombucha tea!

I'm really glad you gave that first link that warned of "fake" kombucha, like there is "fake" kefir... I don't know if I would have known any better!

The more I read about this stuff, the more intrigued I am!!!

Unfortunately my friend also killed hers too. So I guess I will begin a quest to find someplace to get a starter 'shroom. I know you can always order it online, but I would rather get one passed to me than pay for it. BUT if that's my only alternative, then that's what I will have to do. If I ever get one started I will let you know. I think they can be shipped through the mail pretty easily.

I'm with you Sharron, I really hate going to doctors for just anything. I don't trust their knowledge base and the more I learn on my own, the more I distrust them. I think they are good for the majorly complicated stuff and emergencies, but beyond that, I prefer to keep myself healthy through natural means. My herbal interests began about 14 years ago when we had visited an Ojibwa Indian museum in the Mille Lacs area in Minnesota. They had a display of dried herbs the tribe used. I took notes, bought books, signed up with Nature's Sunshine, took classes and then eventually opened my own shop. My location stunk, so it fizzled. But I wouldn't trade all those experiences for "all the tea in China" I find it's amazing that my RN sister has been so unhealthy and had so many surgeries and has COMPLETELY bought into the "the AMA and doctors are gods" mentality. I on the other hand, have not had any surgery (except tonsillectomy when I was 5 and my tubes tied) have remained healthy, EVEN doing low-carb,

So........like I said, if I ever get a kombucha thing going again, I'll pass it on..........(paying forward kinda thing, )

I missed mine today, but yesterday I had it in my water ALL day long and the day before. I just completely forgot about it today. (been busy getting last minute Christmas stuff done......still LOTS to do. ) I went out with the girls last night. We went bowling and then shot pool. I had a few rum and diet cokes and caught a teeny buzz, but today I didn't feel hungover at all. Maybe the vinegar???? I had a Kefir fruit smoothie for breakfast (brunch)

Cool on starting a Kombucha thread, I'll go look for it.

think I will go make some vinegar water.

OK, after reading all these posts AND the links posted - I bought some ACV today. My Ralph's market actually had 3 kinds of unfiltered vinegar with mother! Hain, Spectrum, and the one I bought, which is in the kitchen and I'm too lazy to go get it!! Anyway, got it home, mixed a teaspoon in half a glass of water, squirted in a little Nature's Flavors vanilla-flavored Splenda concentrate - puckered up and tasted it - HEY! It was GOOD!

I won't have any problem drinking this before meals. I'll report in after a week or so and let you know if I see any benefits! (fingers crossed - a little drop in weight would be REAL good about now....)

Neat, with the mother?? That must be Braggs. As far as I know, theirs is the only one with the mother in the bottle.

Boy, I sure notice when I miss this stuff! I missed it at lunch today and realized after I'd had my 2nd helping I've not been doing that!!!

Keep us posted

Blessings!

I have been on it Char for about a week or more now. It isnt bad when I mix a bit of stevia in it.

My problem is trying to get 3 helpings of this a day. I really need to come up with a schedule here.

I have felt a bit more energy at first soon after taking the first dose of it. I also had some break outs, headache, and some bowel problems but that is clearing up. Maybe its the cleasing part of it??

Blessings,

Carol

Sharron, this one is called "Solana Gold" - it says, "Virtues of Vinegar" on a gold label, it's organic, raw, unfiltered, and made with the veil of the Mother!

Carol, I'm glad that the problems you had didn't last long, I hope I don't experience any of that stuff! I really did like the taste though. I even have DH's curiosity piqued!!

Carol, given the health issues you have, I would strongly suspect detox, as you alluded to...

How I do it, is while I'm prepping whatever meal, I take my vinegar.

Char, I'm actually trying to "brew" my own! So far it is starting to smell a bit...

Blessings!
