Hi Barb,

I suppose that I must sound like a walking disaster...when I re-read my posts I wonder myself that I am still alive, LOL

At least things are happening for me, which is the main thing. Today I was discharged from the Pulmonary clinic, even with a chest infection my breathing tests were good.....that's my first bit of good news this year.

I am now waiting on the results of the Nerve Conduction tests and I should get some answers next Thursday......keep your fingers crossed that I am not too far gone to be helped, LOL

Take care,
love Louloo. x

Hi again,

I am not supposed to weigh until tomorrow, but I couldn't resist......I have lost 5 pounds this week, it's not great but considering all the steroids and antibiotics that I am taking, it's not too bad.

I have cheated a bit today and had a small amount of pasta with my hubbie, but I only ate a little, I didn't enjoy it at all.

I am coughing my heart out now and my breathing is bad so I will stop here for today.

Where are you Dryad, you are keeping very quiet, I hope that you are being good? LOL

Take care, everyone,

Love Louloo. x

Hi Everyone,

Well today was the official weigh in and I did loose 5 pounds, but I lost 7 inches of fat overall.....I am so pleased because of the steroids I didn't think that I would lose anything.

It gives me a real boost especially after eating a little pasta yesterday. But as Barb said, it is really interesting how our tastes change, I didn't like it so won't repeat the experience.

An update on my health problems.....I am feeling much better now and I only have a nasty cough to contend with now, so the infection is nearly over now, thank goodness.

Take care, love to hear how you are all getting on.

Love Louloo. x

Hi Barb,

I didn't get to drink more than a few sips of my red wine........it went straight to my head and I was all flushed and hot....it was a really good red as well. But we enjoyed the film and the lovely quiet evening in for a change.

I am trying to space our meals out a bit more this week. We seem to be eating four meals a day counting supper, so today we had our main meal at 3pm so we will not eat again until about 8pm...that should shave off a few more carbs.

How do the rest of you eat. Do you manage to stick to three meals a day, with no picking in between? I would be really interested in hearing your answers.

Take care,
love Louloo. x

I pretty much just eat when I am hungry and do dinner around 6 pm. I am a woman of leisure right now, (layed off 'til March - seasonal) so I don't have a set schedule of when to eat. I just know to not go hungry for very long. When I'm hungry, I eat. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a snack, it depends on how much effort I want to put into my meals. I am doing Atkins, so I may not be as restricted as someone doing Paleo. I am never hungry right away when I get up in the morning. Usually about an hour later I am ready to eat. Of course when I go back to work I will have to force myself to eat. Although, this year when I go back, I will be subbing for the girl in the mail room who will be out on maternitly leave for 12 weeks. I can eat in there whenever I want. So I will probably end up bringing my breaky to eat there when I finally do get hungry. Then I will take a normal lunch break and eat what I bring with me. Then dinner will be at a normal time. I will probably snack on things like nuts or berries when I get home from work during the in-between time before dinner. But for now......I just pretty much eat when I feel like it.

Hi Barb,

It seems like it's just the two of us lately.......where is everyone? Obviously our topic is not interesting enough, LOL

I would think that being on Paleo would be easier than Atkins, which I used to do. I find that being able to eat apples and oranges really fill me up.

I am eating a small amount of cheese per day, because this is still my main protein.....I only like really lean meat, and only a small amount at a time.......I don't have a big appetite.

What I need is exercise more than anything, but until I find out how bad my spine is on Thursday, I have to be patient and wait.

I think forcing myself to exercise and walk, even though I was in a lot of pain, has done me much more harm.

I had a doctor who just said, 'it's usual for you to have degeneration of the spine at your age' and he had been fobbing me off for nearly ten years.

At last I have a doctor who is not satisfied with the amount of pain that I am in. You don't know what this means to me.....to be believed at last, and now to have prove on MRI scans of how bad my back really is.

I think that there might be a glimmer of hope for me yet.

Take care,
love louloo. x

LOL, maybe this thread is boring to others, but I'm certainly enjoying our conversations.

I find that I don't really miss the fruit. I was never a big fruit eater to begin with. I DO like the berries. But I find that when I do strawberry/Kefir smoothies, I get quite stalled. So I have given them up for a bit. Until I reach my goal weight, I will forgo them for now. My body must be very sensitive to fruit sugars. I now just make my Kefir smoothies with sugar-free syrups, and Stevia. YUM YUM!!!!

I sure hope you find some resolution for the pain you are in. I have had back problems in the past, nothing serious, so I kinda can relate to what you are going through, kinda. I'm glad you have found a doctor that's willing to work with you. There's nothing more draining than constant pain.
I sure wish you the best of luck with that.

More later.......gonna have dinner now.

Hi Barb,

Thanks for replying to my post. I too am enjoying our 'chats'.

I did miss fruit a lot when I was on Atkins, this is why this time I think I can stick with the Paleo. Because of the fruit I will also be able to lose some of my dependance on Cheese.

I am not at all hungry. Today I made a shepherds pie with really lean mince beef and for the topping I used carrots, parsnips, swede and onion......all mashed up and it crisped up nicely in the oven........I am stuffed, but I did enjoy it. Also hubby had it too and he thoroughly enjoyed it.....who needs potatoes? LOL

I found that I was sticking to the same old veg and meat so I got fed up with the food and ended up picking or eating bread, but I am really focused this time.

I am really waiting for Thursday and my results, I am holding out soooo much hope for an end to this pain, I hope I am not going to be too disappointed. I just want to be able to exercise or walk a bit more.

This is a great improvement on the old web site. I know that it was hard to lose everything, but this is sooo much easier to use.

I just need to sort out how to get my photo in again......I am hopeless at things like that, but I will have a go later.

Take care Barb. I hope that some of the other Cavemen and Women will show up for a chat with us soon, don't you?
