| Salutations, paleo-pals, Would love to write a nice juicy post right now, but several minor domestic crises will keep me busy until later, maybe tomorrow morning. Louloo - my guess is that Barb and I are 7 hours behind you, timewise. ttfn, Alice |

| And I'm hours ahead of you all! Too much to think about. The most interesting thing this weekend is that I finished the Neanderthin book and went and found my copy of Eades Protein Power Lifeplan. I had read up to but not including the chapter on Leaky Gut so that is where I started - right there the best explanation for auto-immune diseases I could have asked for! It is such an indepth book I guess I wasn't ready for all the info in it. But, am reading through now.Barb - does your MIL take Vitamin E, fish oil or any omega fatty acids? E has been a big help with my husbands knee pain. Connie |

| I don't know what my MIL takes. She's kinda set in her ways, ya know? So it's hard to coach her on stuff. I'll try to remember to ask her this weekend, we're having a surprise B-day (40th) party for my BIL. I'm gonna have to bring some food I can eat with me to the party. My SIL is NOT into eating healthy at all, doesn't "cook" and so I know she won't have a clue what to have for us LC'ers. (other SIL, MIL and me) Alice, I think you're right, about 7 hrs. I still haven't been able to find PP Lifeplan, I will probably have to special order it. I LOVE the Eades!!!! | Hi Emma, ![]() Welcome to Paleo. I too eat fruit and although I am not losing a lot of weight, it is slowly coming off. Do you still eat dairy? I ask because there are a lot of Paleo people who still do eat cheese and butter. I gave up the butter, so hopefully I will no longer crave bread..to me the two go together. I still eat cheese everyday because I don't eat as much meat as I should. Alice and Barb...it is 11am here so I take it that you are still tucked up in bed. It is a huge time difference and never ceases to amaze me. Barb, how are you going to manage without all your dairy products if you come over to Paleo? Connie, I am glad that you found the info you were looking for, that is one book that I haven't read, maybe I aught to look into it. Talk later, I had better finish my housework. love Louloo. x ![]() |

| Hi, all, Writing in haste - still dealing with cranky car. I looked up the time difference, and we are six hours behind GMT. Connie, where in Asia are you? I was a geography major, and I like to know where important people and things are. LOL It is 8:10 am here in us central time zone, so it is 2:10 pm for Louloo. Dh (steve) works for a very international company. He was partnered for a big project with a man in Belgium. Steve went to a very early schedule, and Dominic went to a very late schedule, and they managed to have six hours a day when they were both in the office. Barb - I have a copy of PPLP just sitting here. We can figure out a way to get it to you. On the other hand, since you like the Eades, maybe you want to go ahead and order since the odds are that you will like it. I was thinking it would be good to start another thread with menu ideas, also to share our eating patterns, and experiences with various foods. Recipes too. What do you all think? It would keep the forum more organized. I am working on the paleo parody of Rule Britannia. Actuallly, I have one verse and all but the last word of the refrain (a very important word). Just want to check with more experienced folks about one thing: My song has cave folk arising on the African plain. Don't want to start a flame war about evolutionary controversies. I can always communicate this privately rather than in the public forum. Advice, please. lce is such a great site, I sure don't want to rock the boat. Alice |

| Louloo, that is the conundrum, what will I do without my dairy??? Oh woe is me. Alice, I think I will call around to bookstores and see if any of them have PPLifeplan. Borrowing a book from you, however, would give us a good excuse to meet one another. Although, I like to make notes in my books and underline stuff, so I should prolly get my own copy. I have absolutely no problem with evolution theories. They make total sense to me. | I don't eat dairy too much, only a very ocassional glass of milk. I don't eat cheese at all. I am cutting back, working on cutting out, butter. I agree, bread and butter go together, so do rosemary garlic breadsticks and butter. yum. I'm working on whole, natural foods. If I can grow it, pick it, hunt it, I'll eat it. 171.5/167/117-122 |

| Greetings, Emma, Glad to have you join our little circle around the fire. The haunch of woolly mammoth is roasting nicely, and we gathered some great walnuts and carrots today. After we eat we can sing around the fire. Your paleo-pal, Alice |

| LOL. I love eating mammoth haunches by the fire. (does elephant taste like chicken??? )Oh Louloo, I tried to do no dairy last week and it drove me bonkers. It would have to be a gradual thing, me thinks. Although, I didn't have any for dinner tonight: Wild Boar Roast baked in meat juices, garlic, onion, bay leaf and celery, yard greens (spinach and romaine, no dandelion greens, too much snow, ) and plump cauliflower (with butter, Barb - 30 lbs gone FOREVER! www.iwsgroupinc.com - website design and development Atkins-3/14/03 174/144/135 5'2" "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing." | That's right, Barb, just like chicken. (LOL) I think with the dairy thing you have to sort out your reasons for wanting to do it, and see if they outweigh the reasons for keeping it. I, for one, see enjoyment as a very valid reason. I also see wanting to try paleo eating just to see what it's like as a valid reason (intellectual curiosity is a great paleo trait). But by itself it may not outweigh the pleasures of the dairy foods. Perhaps you're interested in this as a stall buster? Do you have bothersome symptoms and you wonder if this might improve them? What I did was go off all dairy foods except butter from 11/15 through 12/23. Then I did four days of dairy every day. Then completely off again. Within 48 hours of going off dairy after the 4-day challenge I could see the dramatic difference. I am so very motivated not to eat those things anymore - they don't even seem appealing now. (the symptom dairy gives me is hard to describe: a very unpleasant, though not painful, all-body feeling I call "stiffness." When the stiffness is gone I can take long strides, go downstairs fast, and move gracefully. My mood has improved too - I quite frequently have a bubbly effervescence. Sometimes in social situations I have to tone myself down to match better with how other people are feeling.) I have just reread the pplp chapter on the leaky gut and autoimmune diseases, and then browsed through the Neanderthin website. After reading pplp, the Neanderthin makes more sense than it did the first time I read it. I blush to disclose that when Neanderthin talked about "alien proteins" it seemed sort of pseudo-sciencish to me. Now I realize he was talking about lectins and probably chose to say alien proteins to avoid unnecessary jargon. I will definitely reread Neanderthin soon - I bet I will fall in love with it this time. Connie, if you follow paleo it will be fascinating to see if it helps your RA. I know that is a horrible condition to have, how wonderful if this can help. Almost bedtime, Alice |

| LOL, Gosh, I LOVE chicken!!!!! Ya know, I really like cream cheese and use it to make gravies, mock danish (one of my fave breakfast staples) and 1/2 n 1/2 in my coffee, although I suppose I could get used to Sharron's Almond Milk, it's so much work though. I also use splenda sweetened soy milk, Soy Slender in my coffee. I did more of that in my coffee today and it was tastey. I haven't been doing all that much cheese lately, so don't miss that. I don't get any reactions to milk either stiffness or fatigue or stomach upset. So I don't think I have an allergy to it or any related problems. I score VERY low on Candida tests, so I don't think leaky gut is a problem. And if I get any bubblier, I'll get thrown out of places. So I actually don't do all that much dairy, except for my KEFIR. I LOVE Kefir. love it, love it, love it!!!!! I could drink it all day long and forgo solid food. I didn't have time to call around to bookstores today, but hopefully I will get to it tomorrow. I spent a good part of the day preparing for my Support Group materials. I also went to Curves. It would be so cool if you could join the group and give a talk on Paleo, maybe as a guest speaker sometime? | Alice, I'm the same way with dairy. I used to suffer from aches and muscle stiffness on a constant basis and since cutting out dairy, I don't have it at all. I'm still working on the no butter and today is the day. Cold turkey works best for me. I can't do a gradual thing, I have to not have it at all or just dive into it and have it all the time. I haven't had cheese since before Christmas, I have had two or three glasses of milk in January which I no longer have, and now the butter is gone. I have to say I'm feeling much better now.
