Oh Alice, that would be wonderful. I have decided to start the first night on Feb. 24th (a tuesday at Ruby Tuesday's, ) We will meet every other Tuesday if that works for everyone else who attends. I think the manager will recruit some more people for me. When the weather breaks, it would be great to have you as a "guest" speaker, if you don't mind speaking in front of people.

Right now I'm working on "Disspelling the Myths" of low-carbing, a discussion on the Right way and Wrong way to LC and a Reading List. I will focus on getting rid of the use of the processed crap that food companies are coming out with that they like to call "Low Carb" in the right vs wrong way discussion. There is sooooooooooo much to cover, it boggles the mind. I want to eventually focus on the health benefits, eating this way as a LIFESTYLE as opposed to its being a DIET. I want to bring a recipe or two each night. It would be nice to bring samples for people to try, but I doubt RT's would go for that for health code and licensing reasons, as well as menu competition reasons.

But, we'll see which way the wind blows with all this. I'm pretty stoked about it. I hope some people show up the first night.

Hey Barb - your meeting sounds great. I bet you have more than a few show up the first night!

I've been out a couple of days - you all have been busy here. Lots of good info. I'm reading through Protein Power Lifeplan again. Getting more out of it this time around.

Connie

Thanks Connie, I hope so. I just LOVE the Eades. You should see the "Lecture" I did on the Margarine thread in either Atkins or Newbies forums. Someone posted about some nutritionist saying that butter or margerine is about the same as far as cholesterol impact is concerned. Said she'd take any comments, LOL, I gave her a whole page comment.

Thanks to Protein Power, which has a fabulous chapter in it about how insulin affects cholesterol levels, I posted this little "lecture" with confidence.

OH, Barb,

that margarine vs. butter "lecture" was great!!

"Margarine is one molecule away from a powder blue polyester leisure suit"

I nearly died laughing. Everyone handled that discussion well, I thought, emphasizing that the margarine was ok for weight loss, but really bad for health reasons. The distinctiion was made clearly, nicely, and humorously (the last, thanks to Barb).

I will try to be at the 2/24 meeting. My spring idea for the paleo talk fits well with your schedule - don't want to introduce paleo too soon, cover the basics first. Sounds like you're planning a very well-thought-out educational program.

Where is the Ruby Tuesday's? I am kind of a wimp driver, but I could easily take the Metra to West Chicago or any other point on the west line. But not if that makes a problem for you with picking me up, Barb. Tuesday is a good day.

Here's something you don't know about me. I gave birth to my youngest child at age 43, so now I'm parenting an 8-year-old. On Tuesday afternoons and evenings my 20-year-old son can watch the two younger (I also have an 11-year-old). Dh works in Lisle and I can get a ride home with him most likely. Wow - alone in the car for nearly an hour with my honey - I love that idea. But Barb, you be honest about the train station idea, ok? (I can always find a way.)

Tuesday at Ruby Tuesday's - how easy is that to remember? I could bring pplp out with me if you want to borrow. Do you want books to show people (not sure how that would work in a restaurant - I'm used to homeschool support groups in library public meeting rooms - easy to have a resource table there). Probably a book list is the way to go. If you want a sounding board for ideas, just let me know.

I am making Weston A. Price-style crispy macadamias now. You soak the nuts in salt water to get rid of enzyme inhibitors, then drain them and slowly dry them in very slow oven. I've done almonds before, this is my first go at macadamias - they're taking longer.

I tried out Barb's "savage" menu last night, and I'm eating up the leftovers right now. Roast boar, and cauliflower mashed up with lots of that neolithic butter. Chard all gone, alas. I sure love cauliflower.

Bye now,

Your paleo pal, Alice

OH COOL!!!!! Picking you up from the train station would not be a problem. I'm like 2 mins from the station. Ruby Tuesday's is about 15-20 mins from my house, so no big. That would work out fine. Would DH come and pick you up from RT's or meet you at the station in Oak Park? Either way, we'll have to figure out what time the train leaves from WC and get you back there in time. OR if DH is coming to pick you up (I think it would take him about a half hour to get to RT's from Lisle, maybe 45 mins) Then from there, you guys could go down North Avenue (east) and pick up 355 to 88. Whichever way works fine. I'm so excited.

I was thinking of having the actual books there so people can SEE what they look like. So if you don't mind, bringing your PPLP book would be great.

We should talk on the phone. I will start a Private Topic for us and give you the number there. Do you know how to find PT's? Let me know.......

I'm so excited!!!!

You bet, Barb,

We seem to be real kindred spirits - I feel like I've known you for a long time.

Can I respond to your message in that private topic area?

The rest of you cave people can be envious - I'm going to Barb's first lc support group meeting on 2/24.

Alice
