In my freezer, that's where, along with sweet crepes, rolls, a quiche, and some chicken kievs for my husband. And can I just say, having a freezer seperate from the fridge is totally rawking my world. Actually, so is my new house, which I still haven't gotten used to. In any case, I'm starting (yet another) meat fast, and hope to lose some of the poundage I've gained since November. Still don't have a scale, so don't know how much I've gained, but it's a lot. At least work's going well. Dryad

Way cool Dryad! A freezer was the first thing DH and I bought when we got our first house about 15 years ago!!! I don't know how we would eat without one now. And congrats on a new house - still got that 'waking up and wondering where you are' feeling???Connie

Dryad, I know I'm a dolt, but does rawking = rocking? Not sure if it's a good or bad thing, to be rawking. I have a freezer on my list of things I want to get. Our refrigerator has a large freezer, but it is barely adequate. I love to buy in bulk - I'll be getting 36# of butter tomorrow from my food co-op. (Sorry to mention a neolithic food, butter is my only one. The rest of the family eats butter too.) I saw one at the store recently, about 14 cu. ft. upright, what kind do you guys have? Keep us posted on the meat fast , Dryad. (and congratulations on the new house - how exciting) Alice

The meat fast is...going. Of course, now that I have to take two buses to get to the grocery store that sells the good beef and pork, I wasn't very prepared and had to eat some cheese last night. Oh well, done better today. Hopefully I'll be able to go back Thursday afternoon and get some more meat. Dryad

Wow - 36# of butter - you do need a freezer, Alice!!! I found I prefer the upright freezer but skip the frostless feature. It "thaws" on a cycle to keep it frostfree so you food doesn't keep as well. And when you're paying all that money for the food you won't mind cleaning out the freezer every 6 months or so. Shoot, I usually only clean it out once a year. With an upright you can find what you need much more easily than a chest so you have the door open less time - so less ice accumulation. Our experience anywhere. Connie

Thanks for the tips, Connie. I like your thinking about the frost-free feature. Really, you have to clean it anyway. As a housework procrastinator, I appreciate having the frost level build up so that I have to defrost and get it clean. My frost-free refrigerator gets pretty dirty before I clean it. (sorry for being gross) Dryad - keep plugging with the meat fast, we're behind you. Two buses to get meat sounds like a real pain. You're like a hunter-gatherer who has to travel a long way to find game. So, get a wooly mammoth and keep it in the new freezer. I've stayed true to my paleo ways with one exception - blue cheese on a salad at Ruby Tuesday's. Not sure if it affected me or not, but am sure that I could have told them to leave it off and the salad would have still been delicious without it. Alice
