| Hi guys... I LOVE the concept of the carb addicts diet and know I could live like that forever! I did want to lose weight quickly and was hoping to just maintain with carb addicts. Has anyone ever transitioned from Atkins to Carb Addicts? Thanks |

| This is a question I have been wondering as well. I wonder if you can actually maintain weight lost with atkins on this CALP? ~Steph |

| Jill and Steph, I am no expert on this as I never successfully did Atkins. But, my guess is that you would be able to maintain as long as your RM was balanced (as it should be) and not a "carb-fest". I have heard that some people showed a small gain at first, but then came back down. If you are going to do it, my advice would be to decide to try it for a certain period of time like 4-6 weeks and see what happens, knowing that you may gain at first. You would want to go into it with an open mind and some patience (I would think). You would want to keep on drinking lots of water, and perhaps start or keep up an existing exercise routine. I know that exercise helps me. CAD/CALP works really great for me for losing weight, but my mom needs Atkins. So, whether or not this would work for either of you for maintenance is probably a very individual thing as well. Jill, as far as losing fast goes, you should start to slow down a little with Atkins from what I've read. On CAD/CALP, I lose anywhere from 5 to 8 pounds a month, which is a healthy weight loss rate. Plus, it makes our family dinner (and eating with others) much easier for me. If you decide to give it a try, let me know. Feel free to start a Private Topic with me. I'll be willing to help however I can. Debby 206.5/164.5/140? CAD/CALP since 1/12/13 |

| What happens is partially up to the choices that you make when you are eating. Everything is similar to Atkins except the concept of the RM. And, you can have more LC veggies during the CM and CS if you want. The carbs are restricted to one meal a day and need to be balanced. I like CALP and all of my WL except 25 pounds (which I did strictly on WW) is while doing CALP. | I did Atkins for a yr then stalled out (after losing 40 pounds) Started calp and have lost 4 pounds so far. Personally I think maintaining on this diet won't be hard. I love the freedom of not counting and the food choices are limitless. (Just stay balanced!) |

| I am following the atkins diet. Is the atkins diet more restricting the the Carb Addicts diet? Can you really eat starches and sugar on this diet? Is there a carb addicts book I can purchase and read more about this? I Should have compared all the lo carb diets out there before I started the Atkins diet. It's just that I never heard of any of the others. Thank you. All advice welcome Shay 205/196.5/150 Atkins since 8/29/03 ~Too blessed to be stressed~ |

| Hi Shay. Check out the post below called CALP Reviewed. Ilse has provided a great overview with some links. And yes there are a couple of books, and you can have carbs and starches in your reward meal. I have been following this woe for a little over 2 months. I guess I should say I have been transitioning to it, because I have yet to hold myself to balancing my reward meal (I'm really trying to make this a lifestyle change rather than a diet--so I am taking it slow). But even still, I started at 227 and weighed in at 212 today. I could go on and on about the positives I See about this plan for me. I'll be glad to ramble on some more if you want! Amy |

| Shay, I am not always perfect with my choices. I do post a journal every day. It has everything I've eaten listed. You are welcome to check it out if it will help in any way. Here is the link to the journal http://lowcarbeating.infopop.cc/6/ub...4&m=8876084214 I really like the flexibility of CAD.
