Okay, for those of you who have lost, gained, lost and gained again, you know how horrible flab is. I'm too young to have flab but it's there, making my arms swing!

What works...exercise? Creams? Firming lotions? Water? Occult rituals and rites? Whaaaat?!?! Please tell me

Exercise (weights) and losing body fat percentage is the only cure for flabby wings. Trust me.

    Hello febe and BC,

I'm starting with Curves (hydrolic machines) this week, and I'm at 320 lbs now. I've never heard of weight lifting as a solution (and I can't or shouldn't do that now.) Please tell me....when would it be best to start attacking the flab with weight lifting???

I'm really scared of even losing the weight for fear of flab, and I don't want fear to be a reason to be discouraged.

Additonal tips would be appreciated--I'm desperate!

    Thanks febe and BC

    Write Girl~

Curves IS weight lifting, in that it's all about putting resistance on your muscles. Whether it's done with hydraulic machines, barbells, or cans of soup doesn't matter, as long as it makes you work the muscle.

Curves is a great place to get introduced to weight/resistance training, and I bet you'll start seeing some results soon. Congratulations on your decision to start working out - it really does make a big difference.

    Best wishes,

    What Sky said.

Whether you use machines or free weights, Write Girl, you will get out of your workout what you put into it. If you really work the Curves circuit hard with enough weight to just complete your reps, you'll get a fantastic workout. Enjoy!!

don't be scared of weight lifting. Weights can be your friend!! Really. Just remember to start light and easy. Work up to the higher weights slowly. And always take a rest day(which should be one day of weights, the next day off). Its really easy to over do it, so remember take it slow, write down the amount you lift and the number of times you do the lift.
    tricep 10 pounds 5 times.
Soon you will see those numbers go up!!

    have fun....happy lifting!

I love the gym. I did not used to love the gym. I have lost 5 in on both upper arms. (that is great, but grosses me out to think my arms were that much bigger) Weight lifting and cardio have made such a difference in how I feel and look. JUST DO IT!!! you'll be glad and feel great!

I was looking at some picture of myself I took a year ago, when I started WW. I don't want to go there again!

I have arthritis, so I swim when I get a chance. And, I do more walking at work and in general that I was for a while.

Sunday, we went to a couple of outlet malls, one of which is huge. I usually take a walking stick if we will walk for a long time, but didn't this time. I was hurting a bit at the end of three hours of walking in the mall, but it wasn't as bad as it would've been a year ago.

I would rather have the flab than the weight, but I'm hoping a slow weight loss and the swimming tighten things up for me.

    Hey guys,

I know you all answered this thread days ago, and I couldn't respond--sorry! I usually use the internet cafe's pay-by-the-hour and my time tends to finish before I can read and respond to everything.

I am enjoying Curves and jogging again, which I have not been able to do in YEEEARS. Those little wooden "planks" or whatever are great. I hope I can tighten up the flab, afterall, the skin is still alive so I haven't lost hope.

Thanks for the advice, I'll get back to you on it in the future
