Izzy, I'm right there with you! I'm up 3 pounds on my actual and fortunately only 0.3 pounds on my 7-day average for September. I was on-again / off-again all through September. I wish you the best of luck in October!

I have made some 4th Qtr resolutions - the two that relate to my weight loss are... get back on plan and stay on plan and to somehow exercise 4-5 times a week. The exercise is tricky since I have a little one at home, but I'm going to do the best I can. Today we went for a 30 minute walk in my hilly neighborhood. Felt good! Guess I'm on my way now. I'm hoping to still be able to lose 5-6 pounds (off my 7-day avg) by Halloween.

Welcome to the challenge, Hamey! ... and congrats on your 4.4 pounds gone! Your aim - slow weight loss and consistant eating habits - is a very good one, and one that we should all adapt. This needs to be a lifetime thing. I need to keep that in mind when I screw up and also when I get impatient (wanting to fit into smaller clothes now!). Just so you know, I started a PT with you.

Here's to October being a better month for everyone!

    Debby,

How is your journey back to being OP? What's nice is that each day is different and fresh. Each day is a new chance.

I bloat so easily from excess sodium now. And, I forgot to tell my Dr, as I had a good blood pressure reading that day.

    Ilse,

Thanks for asking. So far, so good. Stayed OP yesterday and was down 1 pound - 7-day avg. went up though (just by 0.1). It's going to take a few days before that starts to come down again.

Last night I made up some breakfast casserole for this morning. Eating it right now at work. Won't get any veggies in at breakfast. But, lunch will be chicken salad and coleslaw (probably lots of it). Dinner will be either a small portion of leftover chicken & rice casserole or leftover spaghetti. Either way will have a big salad with it. So, today should be fine. Have all my water with me here.

Didn't get a walk in this morning. Got to bed late, so we slept in. Might get one in this afternoon, or maybe today will be one of my 'skip' days. We'll just have to see.

Oh, and I need to make a correction - I was only up 1.5 pounds on my actual for the month, thank goodness.

It's so cool to see that new weight on your sig line! How are things going for you?

I am doing ok, for the most part. I get frustrated at how easily sodium causes me to bloat.

I try hard to limit the use of carbs too, as I bloat from them as well. I think I am pre-diabetic. I suffer from low-blood sugar. I don't know when it's a good idea to monitor my blood sugar levels. My mom and first cousin are diabetics.

My doctor is having me do a fasting blood workup tomorrow. Hopefully, the news will be good.

    Ilse,

Sorry about the bloating. That's a bummer!

You'll have to let us know how that blood workup turns out. Hoping for the best for you.

What are the symptoms of diabetes? Do you know a link to a place where I can find that info? I've tried to search the web, but haven't found anything helpful yet. I know one is excessive thirst. I'm always thirsty, but I attribute it to years of drinking water due to WW and other diets. But, sometimes I get curious about the diabetes issue.

    Hi!
    Welcome Hamey.
Izzy, Glad you checked in. I'm sorry you are up 2 pounds, but glad you are trying again!
Ilse, did you hear the hype about how Chipotle burritos weigh almost a pound and have 1000 calories? But they are so yummy! We just got a Chipotles near us a month or two ago and it's one of our favorite places. I have gotten the bowl with no rice or beans and with the peppers for CM sometimes. . .I think it's "pretty legal." What is your thought about that?
Debby, from what I understand, you don't always have lots of identifiable symptoms if you blood sugar is high--that is part of what can make diabetes so damaging. You don't usually feel bad or notice if your sugar is high, but you can do longer term damage--it's a lot like high blood pressure in that way. My dad is diabetic and I had gestational diabetes (controlled with diet with my daughter and I had to take insulin with my son). So I am at great risk for developing diabetes--that is part of why am so commited to getting this weight off and eating healthier. I would be glad to share some more of what I know if you want.
Gotta run to work, I'll write more asap.

    Amy,

I think a burrito bol from Chipotle minus the beans and rice is a good choice for a CM. What I like to do is order the hard-shell tacos. I get one of each type of meat. I have them add the fajita veggies and lots of lettuce and tomato. I get an order of guacamole and the green salsa. If I am doing a CM, I pull out the shalls and eat the food as a yummy salad. If I am doing a RM, I will eat the shells and maybe get some beans in there too for extra fiber.

This is a quote from Chipotle:
Our burrito tortillas are 13" in diameter. They are approximately 109 grams in weight, 338 calories, 8.6 grams of fat, and 1.8 grams of fiber.

Congrats, Izzy! I'm on day 3 of being back on plan, and it does feel good, doesn't it?

Amy, started a PT with you about the diabetes stuff.

    Have a great weekend everybody!

It is the weekend! Yippee! My weight has stablized. I have been on plan all week and although I haven't seen any weight loss, I feel much, much better!

Izzy, I'm so happy for you!

But, I'm mad at myself. I'd been on-plan for 3 days, when last night I had a bag of popcorn about 3 hours after dinner. Weight was up a pound and 7-day avg was up 0.3 pounds. UGH!! Why do I do this to myself?!? I need to get that popcorn out of my house (or at least have DH hide it)!

Well, today is another day. (big sigh)

    Debby,

    Thanks for the support!

You hit the "nail on the head". We are our own worst enemies.

But hey, you have come a long way and you are headed the right direction. Don't beat yourself up too bad. I have come to a conclusion that when you are on any journey......always expect a detour or two. They are gonna happen.......it slows you down a bit............but with perseverence........in the end you wind up in the right place.

    Izzy,

Thank you for the encouragement! I needed that. You are actually the second person within a couple of days to tell me to look how far I've come and not be so hard on myself. I guess I should start listening. I think I just have this fear that I'll get off track forever and gain all the weight back... irrational, I know... but hard to get rid of all the same.

Once again, thanks! So far so good today. Went for a 35 minute walk with my DD on my back in a backpack. Boy was that good exercise. Also reminded me of how the "extra weight" feels. She weighs about 24.5 pounds (don't know how much the pack weighs), which is what I need to lose to get to my first (and maybe only) goal. Just think how much better I'll feel without that weight. I know it sure was harder walking with the added weight of her. Plus, I've already lost 1.75 times her weight. Amazing when you think about it that way!

We all need encouragement from time to time. I, too am scared about gaining all the weight back that I lost. I don't ever want to go that direction again. It was not a good place to be. Maybe being scared.........helps us keep coming back and doing the right thing! If so, I don't mind being scared.

I am going to go pick some beans and then go for my walk.

Have a great rest of the day!

Yesterday ended up so unbalanced. I ate a nice RM for lunch. Then we took our grandson to an apple orchard to pick some apples. Well, we needed to try different varieties to see which ones we wanted to pick. We got: Liberty Gold, JonaMac, and Empire from the trees, and Ginger Gold already picked. We also got one apple turnover each, which we ate later. I also had some leftover Chinese food that was breaded chicken.

The result, I woke up hungry from too many carbs. I had a weight gain, but not as bad as it could've been, maybe 2-3 pounds.

I know better, but didn't plan for the apple orchard.
