| I have been reading the CAD/CALP books. I am thinking about switching over from Atkins since I've been stalled for 13 months. I am wondering if you all are losing at a steady pace? The book makes it sound hopeful that you can lose quite quickly since you're only eating the carbs at 1 meal. I don't know if changing over could break this stall. I'm afraid to change for fear of gaining. I can identify so much with what they are saying in the books. I am a sweet eater and after my 3 lb no cheat gain last week I gorged on cookies and pizza. I was so depressed. Do you think this plan is working for you? Just looking for some advice. Thanks Karen |

| Karen, If I were you, I think I would give it a try. You might gain in the beginning, but I think it would just be a little and then you would start losing. Don't have any experience with this, though. I was on CAD/CALP from Jan 12th to Oct 9th and lost about 40 pounds. Actually, from the beginning of Sept I was on- and off-plan the whole month and just couldn't seem to get back on, so I switched to Atkins on Oct. 10th. Lost 10 pounds on Induction... was very surprised about that. But, in the past 4 weeks I've only lost a pound. On CAD/CALP, I lost an average of 5 pounds a month. I am actually considering going back on CAD/CALP. I had a hard time the other night watching my DH eat a roll with the Hamburger Soup I'd made. For me, it's easier to eat with/around others while on CAD/CALP. Haven't made any decisions yet... feel I should give Atkins a bit more of a chance. But, sometimes I just wonder if I can really do it FOREVER. Need to take it one day at a time, but sometimes that's hard. CAD/CALP seems a bit more relaxed to me... and being the detail-oriented person that I am, I can see myself obsessing too much on Atkins. We'll see. How much more do you have/want to lose? I wish you well in whatever road you choose. Debby 206.5/155/140?130? | Karen, There's no way of knowing if switching will break your stall. Sometimes things just get slow. But, I certainly think that CAD/CALP is a good way to go for a low-term WOE. I like being able to eat my carbs without having to count the amount I have. Just make sure the meal is balanced and not longer than 60 minutes. If you join us, let us know. We welcome the input from more people. Debby, good luck in figuring out what you need to do. Ilse 380/304.6(WW)/229.5(current)/154 5'7" "It's kind of fun to do the impossible" Walt Disney |

| Thanks for the reply Debby. I have about 100 pounds I want to lose. At least I think that would bring me to my ideal weight. I am so afraid that I may get out of control with CAD, maybe eat too much at the RM. I'm also a bit confused about the portioning. My 1/3 portions could probably get quite large (especially if I have butternut squash, I love it!) Can I ask what your daily menu looks like? I found that the menus given in the books are just too elaborate for me. I'm simple and need quick and easy meals. Did you allow yourself any snacks in between meals and if so, what did you eat? I usually will have a snack between breakfast and lunch, but no between lunch & dinner because I eat lunch fairly late (1pm or 1:30). Sorry to ask so many questions, I hope that by asking questions I can get some benefit from it. Thank you again Karen |
