| Hi everyone, I have been around this site all year, so I am not new to LC. I did Atkins until July of this year with less than impressive results Anyhoo, I bought CALP yesterday and have read most of the book, so started the plan this morning. I am hoping to lose between 25-30 lbs...that would make me an extremely happy camper . I do have a question though...when they are speaking of a craving reducing food that has to have 4 carbs or less, does that mean NET carbs or ACTUAL carbs? They didn't mention subtracting the fiber gms, so I am wondering if I should? Example is the meat alternatives. My garden burgers list 5 carbs with 3 fiber which would be 2 net carbs and I could have them. What do you all think? Also, almonds and pecans are not on either list, craving reducing or carb rich...any thoughts on these, a LCer's best friend? I am very excited about this plan and hope it will be right for me. Would love to hear from any and all who follow this WOE.Thanks bunches! | Shelly, I think any kind of nut would be saved to be eaten as part of the RM. The CAD book may talk about no more than 4g of carbs of a LC food, but the CALP book doesn't have that restriction. You could try a couple of weeks using the foods strictly on the plan, so you know you are doing it purely. Then, try the Garden burger one day to a CM and see if it seems to cause to react to it as a carb. If you seem to react to it like a carb, then save it for a RM. This diet doesn't look at net carbs. | Susan, Got it and replied back Ilse, Thanks for the info. I may have some more questions, heck I KNOW I will have some more questions, so I appreciate your input. Today will be my first day at work on CALP, so I hope to stay busy and distracted from wanting to eat the things I'm not supposed to. Anyhoo, thanks again...you guys are the greatest! | Shelley, Just want to wish you well! I hope this works for you. It's a very manageable (sp?) way to eat for a lifetime, IMO. Debby 206.5/154.5/140?130? CAD/CALP 1/12-10/9/03 Atkins since 10/10/03 |
