Well, it's been 7 days on CALP. Here are some things I've noticed:

I am not hungry between meals. Usually I can't make it to lunch without terrible hunger pains.

I seem get full quicker eating the same amount of food as before.

I don't eat after dinner anymore. I am happy with a glass of water.

Cravings seem to be diminished quite a bit. Before I was always on the hunt to make a LC treat. Now I don't care about that.

Best news this week - from Saturday's weight to today, I've lost 4 1/2 pounds! Average weight loss for the week is 3. So I'm quite happy this morning

I do attribute some of this to TOM water weight, I was quite bloated this month, but I truly think some is true "fat weight".

I'm going to continue and as I mentioned before, when I get down to my lowest weight from doing Atkins and go beyond that....I know it's working.

Way to go, Karen! Any loss is good loss. Now the key is to keep it up. You're experiencing the benefits that make it easier to stay with it (lowered appetite; decreased desire for "treats", etc). Ride that wave as long as you can...

You go, Girl!

Terrific, Karen! I firmly believe there's no one plan that's perfect for everyone. Sounds like you've found one that will be a winner for you.

Thanks everyone - I sure do hope this is going to work. I seem to be much happier - I don't know how to explain it. I don't feel as stressed out about this as I was with Atkins. I just know what I can have at dinner and make sure I'm keeping it balanced and no sugars. I've been able to maintain my weight from friday over the weekend, which for me, is a good thing. On the weekends I don't eat much, rarely eating breakfast or lunch and don't get my water in like I need to. During the week I'm back on a normal schedule. We'll see what this week brings.

I also bought the Leslie Sansone walking videos and was up at 5am this morning "walking the pounds off!" It felt good to do that to get going in the a.m. My DH is going to buy me a DVD player for our bedroom TV so I can do it in there without waking the kids up so early.

I'll keep you all posted. Karen

Karen,

Congratulations! That's great!! I'm glad that you've found what will work for you.

I know what you mean about that. I did Atkins for 6 weeks and after about 4 it started feeling like it wasn't the right plan for me for life. So, now I'm back to CALP (although I haven't been very good the past week). Need to get back on the straight and narrow. Reading your post(s) has motivated me. Thanks!

That's great Ouis! If I remember correctly you were also experiencing a long stall too? I haven't lost anything from last friday's weight, BUT, I consider that a plus because I've maintained it and maybe a loss is around the corner. I struggle with balancing the RM - I do as the book says, but question whether it's right. I am so surprised that I am not hungry between meals anymore, not even a stomach growl. I used to get so hungry between breakfast & lunch that I'd get the shakes. And that was when I ate breakfast.

I hope you find this works for you. I'm still in the "not convinced" stage. I want to see a steady downward trend to my next weight level (about 8 pounds to be exact) and I'll be happy.

Keep posting and let me know how you're doing.

You're doing CAD, not CALP, right?

Karen

'nother pound down today after a rm that included Nan (Indian bread) and rice pudding (and tandoori chicken and salad of course!!)--I have found that the key for me is absolutely no snacking, no artificial sweeteners except at RM and two CM's a day --I am TRYing to balance my rm but that is an art i think!--all i know is that i am losing weight after a YEAR of no weight loss--lets keep supporting eachother here--but I am also getting a lot of support over at the forum that Ilse (Kokle) posted threads for--wonderful group

Ouis,

Congratulations to you! I'm happy for you to start losing again and for finding a program that works for you.

I never snacked on this plan before, but I felt the need to snack on Atkins. Weird, isn't it?

Can you tell me more about this other forum? (maybe in a PT) Is it more active than our CA forum here?

TIA,

Debby

Congrats on everyone doing so well. I am feeling great this morning, too! I started CAD "sort of" on Thursday and Friday, but officially started 100% yesterday. I currently weigh 3lbs less than I did on Monday; that's 3 lbs less than my highest weight ever (which made me say "I need to get it together for the new year!"). And my average weight loss for really 1 full day and 2 semi-days of CAD is 1 1/2 lbs. I'm happy and look forward to lots more lbs coming off. Especially since I'm back in the gym starting tomorrow morning!
