I've been lurking on this board for a few days and would like to "join" officially by introducing myself. In my checkered diet history, I tried the original Adkins back in the mid-70's, when it first came out. I had moderate, but unsustained, success, and abandoned it for -- well, for nothing at all but gradual weight gain for many years. Four years ago, a friend invited me to WW, where I stayed for over 2 years and lost 58 pounds. But it was SO hard to keep the cravings at bay and my points under control. Then I attended a 2-week out-of-town seminar where all food was free and plentiful, including candy and chocolate at all breaks and desserts with every meal. I put on 10 pounds those two weeks, and am now almost back to where I started. I am definitely a carb addict.

I bought CALP the week before I started WW and then set it aside. What a mistake that was! I finally went looking for it last week and read it through. The next meal started me on the LC path once again.

I'm already 10 pounds down and feel SO much better. Those after-dinner cravings have all but disappeared. Now I just have to stick with it.

Sorry for being so long-winded. I'm happy to have found LCE and am looking forward to all the wonderful support y'all offer.

Laly,

Welcome to the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet board. It is a good way to loose weight and not feel deprived. I did CAD by itself for a year, WW by itself for a month and a half, and WW and CALP together since then.

At this point, I am doing something more like the Zone, but a fat-free version.

LalyT,

Welcome! Isn't it great to find something that works that is simple and not too hard to follow. Glad you found your way here (to the site) as well.

We have similar starting and ending weights. It's been a little over a year for me, and I'm down 50 pounds. Wasn't perfect all the time, but keep managing to get back on track. Just remember that... if you do stray, find your way back (the sooner the better).

Best wishes to you in your journey!

Debby
