    Talking Just ordered Neanderthin book..

I am really excited to be getting my book. I love reading new things!! Well, so far i have been loving the paleo experience. How does everyone lose on this way of eating? I'm hoping i will see a size 10 my June with alot of exercise.

I have been reading the articles on Kefir, it sounds very interesting. I have never tried it-- does it have a similar taste to yogurt? It does sound a little complicated-- just need to keep reading about it and maybe sometime i'll give it a try. Did i see that someone bought some in a grocery store?? I don't think i've ever seen it here in my neck of the woods although i guess i've never consciously looked for it either!! LOL

Hope everyone is having a great paleo day!!

    HI, Believer!

Paleo has been great for my losing, because I found out that I have a sensitivity to dairy products. When I stopped doing dairy, not only did I feel much better, but my weight loss picked up again after a 14-month stall. I was probably eating too much of both cream and cheese - enough to push both my carbs and calories too high.

I really enjoy having the coconut kefir. If you haven't already, you can read more about it on the "Off Your Moo" thread in the challenge club forum. The coconut kefir parts are at the end (it's a really long thread).

Dairy kefir is not considered paleo, because before the agricultural revolution people did not keep domesticated animals and hunter-gatherers didn't milk wild animals. However, many paleo people do a little dairy. Louloo and I both do - I have butter sometimes, and she does cheese. You might decide to do kefir.

A lot of the grocery stores around here have kefir in the dairy case.

Making your own isn't hard - it's way easier than yogurt because it cultures at room temperature. I use quart mason jars.

I stick with coconut kefir (not dairy). So far I just use it as a topping for my berries/peaches, but I plan to play with it in recipes that call for sour cream or cream cheese.

I hope you get the Neanderthin book soon - we can have a great discussion!

How much weight are you trying to lose? How did you get attracted to paleo eating? Are you changing to paleo from a more mainstream lowcarb approach, or are you starting lc the paleo way?

How's your move going? It's fun to move to a new place, but lots of work!

    Bye for now,

    Alice

thanks for the reply Paleofornow, hopefully will have my book next week, they said it shipped today!! I must say the first thing that attracted me to Paleo was the simplicity. I had done atkins before but didn't really like that way of eating, just wasn't for me. Then i moved to Protein power and i can honestly say i really loved that plan!! As you can see i've tried a few diets!! LOL

I started slipping around christmas time and have now just found my way back! Decided Paleo was the way to go, no complicated measuring and counting carbs and all that stuff i don't have time for. My setback is cheese, I could eat it all day!! I believe cheese is also my problem food.

Summer is almost here and i'm ready to whip this butt back into shape!! I could stand to lose around 45-50 pounds, UUGGHH--seems like a long way to go, but all i have is time. HA

The move has been going pretty good-- We found ourselves a country home and are moving little by little until my oldest is done with the school year. Sure wears you out!!

    WIll see you around,
    kelly

Kelly: Glad you have joined the Cave Clan and welcome. You will not regret your decision to adopt the best way of eating for mankind (we evolved on this diet) and it's best suited to our genes. Once you read the book and check out the websites that I have provided for you below, you will see the reasoning behind all diet do's and don'ts. Again welcome and good luck.
