I agree! The detox benefits far outweigh the few pounds gained. I was feeling much more energetic since i added a few more supplements a month ago, but the cran-water put the icing on the cake. my energy levels are huge now. My stamina is increased measurably. I walked yesterday at an average speed of 3.75 mph and did 4 miles. My best mile was at 4 mph. I'm sticking with the cran water for a while longer, maybe for good. Also have added the metabolism increasing herbs and spices like turmeric and cumin and cayenne. I've devised a curry like spice muxture for my chicken salad using these spices.

I rarely feel energetic, whether I use the cran-water or not. I haven't figured out how to get more peppy either.

Good for you with the walking. Just keep in mind that speed is good for cardio, but may not be as effective for fat-burning. I don't go that fast anymore with my arthritis. Still, I am glad that most of the time I can walk without using a walking stick (that I use as a cane). I bring it along when we will walk for hours, but not normally.

have you tried B complex. Co q10 and potassium and magnesium supplements. That started me on teh road to my current energy levels,. The cran water just upped it a notch or two.

I don't always walk fast. When i go to tanglewood park with the dog we walk along horse paths and deer paths and on pretty uneven ground. I pretty much have to walk slowly. But then my walks tend to be longer, maybe 90 minutes or more.

Rob, sometimes I take a multi-vitamin, Vitamin E, glucosamine chondroitin, pro-biotics, a magnesium-calcium blend. Every day, I take at least one Celebrex, sometimes two.

Ilse - the evening primrose and borage oil is a source of Gla. I've read that you are better off just buying the pure GLA supplement since they bulk up the first two with vegetable oil as filler. I've been thinking I might add this supplement but am at the limit of my supplement dollars right now. I might stop the green tea extract and substitute the gla since I am almost out of Green tea extract.
If I added in every supplment I wanted to over the years I'd have a vitamin habit that would cost a couple hundred a month.

Rob,

I stopped at a Trader Joe's yesterday. Their brand of unsweetened cranberry juice in a 32 oz jar was $3.99. Not bad! I stopped there to get more flax oil.

Unfortunately Trader Joe's hasn't hit North carolina yet. I really wish they had them here though. Maybe whole foods has a cheaper brand or I could try one of the health food stores in town. Or I could make my own from the recipe in fat flush but who want to work that hard for juice.

Hello Rob & Ilse,

I wanted to pop back in here to let you know that I've been keeping up with your posts in the FFP. I've decided to incorporate part of the plan to my version of the SP plan. I want to do the 2 wks Fat Flush as a cleanse and then go into the SP (Schwarzbein Principle). I purchase and read another book by Anne L. Gittleman, "Beyond Pritikin." This plan also calls for a 2 wks "fat flush" that sounds similar to the "Fat Flushing" in the FFP. I've ordered the "FFP" and "The Master Cleanse." I'll read the book first before starting the actual 2 wks "fat flush."
However, I've decided to go for the cran-water. Wow!! This is some bitter stuff. My first swallow almost put tears to my eyes. LOL
I thought I'd be brave and try drinking it w/o any stevia plus. Well, I've gotten used to it. Whew!! What a relief. I also spent about $8.00 on a quart.

Ilse, you found the deal...$3.99 for 32oz is great. I've got to look around a bit more.

Rob, I completely agree with you. LOL

Well, I better go. I'm going to try to put a dent in my cran water.

Kelli,

The book "Beyond Pritikin" was written before "The Fat Flush Plan" by the same author. She has written a lot of books. She has tweaked the FFP a bit in the FF exercise book, the cookbook, and the journal (which has a shopping list in the back).

I haven't found unsweetened cranberry juice concentrate. I looked at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and my local supermarket.

Gee, I didn't know she tweaked the FFP. Do you think I should get the FF exercise book for the updated FFP? I don't really want to do the entire FFP, but just the cleansing part.

I don't see myself doing the entire Fat Flush plan either but it would probably be good for me if I did the 2 week cleanse. The long life cocktail keeps my hunger down a bit so breakfast this morning was one egg and one slice of toast. But I use 3 tbs ground flax seed in the cran-water to make the Long life cocktail and I'm wondering how to enter that on fitday. A tbs of flax seed grinds up to more than a tbs but I'm not sure how much more. Also I couldn't find flax oil in bulk so I had to go with the capsules but they are huge 1200 mg ones. She doesn't specify mgs just Tbs. Is there more info in any of her other books?

Somewhere it says you would have to take around 18 caplets to equal the 2T of flax oil. I have seen flax oil in the refridgerated section of Whole Foods as well as HFS. I usually measure my flax seeds before grinding and then don't measure them after.

The tweaks were things like adding new spices, a 3 second spray of Pam when cooking, allowing a bit of sea salt to the food if your blood pressure is low, allowing some olive oil in Phase III (maintenance). I have the pages photocopied, but I would have to look at them again for specifics.

Flax seed for 3T is 140 calories, 10g fat, 11 carbs, 8 fiber, 5 protein. This is on the back of my flax seed package. Does this help?

Ilse
My problem is that when i put 3 tbs of flax seeds into my coffee grinder it comes out with about 4.5 to 5 maybe even 6 tbs ground flax. I should just do a controlled experiment and measure a volume of seeds and then the resulting meal. As far as needing 18 capsules to equal 2 tbs I think my capsules are bigger than normal. Though certainly no where near a Tbs each. Oh well they were cheap enough 100 capsules for 4.47. I'll eat a bunch a day and then go looking for them. Now that you mention the flax oil in the refrigerator section I will look there. I now recall seeeing it somewhere refrigerated. Maybe whole foods. I was looking with the supplements on the shelves.
