Cool A kefiring harumph!

I've been wanting some kefir and the only grains I have hanging about (that aren't frozen) were the ones I had used for coconut kefir a month or so ago. Well, I pulled 'em out and put about 1.5 cups of milk on them.

It took them 3 or 4 days to perk up, and then when they finally did, they went overboard! It went from nothing to cottage cheese overnight! I'm not exactly sure what happened. It might be that the coconut kefir grains don't want to make milk kefir anymore, or it could be that they just ripened all at once.

I'm trying one more batch, and we'll see!

Oh, well, I gave myself a nice deep conditioning treatment and facial

AWWWWWWWWW...

But I don't want a woozle! They'll steal all my honey!!!

Wait a minute. I don't have any honey -- well 'cept that little bit I keep hanging around for when the kids are sick and need tea...

You guys are too hysterical! I'm sure woozles don't eat low-carb.

On a kefir note - I would think the grains were just hibernating (what do you think, Pooh?) and they needed to get started up again. I have to watch mine closely just because they process the milk so fast where we are located.

Thought I'd give an update on my curious kefir babies...

They never did start producing properly before we left. One batch I actually ended up having to thow a few of them down the drain along with the weird, cheese-stuff they made :o I picked out as many babies as I could, but I just couldn't get them all!

So, what I did was put fresh milk on them and put them into the fridge, and there they sat for about 10 days! When I got home, I got them out and gave them some fresh milk. It is going slowly, but they are producing proper kefir again! I'm thoroughly enjoying my smoothies again, which, now that I mention it, I think I'll go have some now
