| A couple of weeks ago, I posted about my dr telling me to only eat once a day and no more than 800cal. Well, I took ya'lls advice, and did some research and started eating breakfast again...and it has done wonders for me. I have started eating "weird" foods for breakfast...and upped my calories to about 1700-1800 a day with 30-40 "net carbs" (mostly from veges) and I have dropped 5lbs this week. I had been doing south beach (where you don't count anything, but I wanted to anyway, just to see what/how much I was eating), but I think I am more on Adkins now (so I am going to buy the book today!) The last few days, I cannot believe how "full" I feel...almost like I have "pigged out" all day, but yet I know I didn't. Thanks for your advice!

| That is something that was different for me, too. I hardly ever ate a 'breakfast' before - if I tried, I usually went with (excuse me APRIL!) poptarts! Now I make it a point to have either a cereal (maggies) or something. I finally tried a LC bread - and remembered how much I like poached egss on a piece of toast. Haven't had bread/toast since I started. But it sure makes a difference during the day. I usually have to force myself to remember to have the lunch now. (and I do). stick to a schedule, and you never feel that 'need' for something, and can easily control the portions naturally.

| I'm so glad for you! I still cannot believe your doctor's advise to only eat 800 calories a day - that sounds too much like a concentration camp regimen. Good to see that low carb is working out for you, and it's good that you don't feel deprived! Thanks for the update!

| I can't believe the doctor suggested 800 calories a day, either! That's like totally starving yourself! Almost like the people who go to that weight loss center (can't think of the name) and they put you on 500 calories a day. Sure, you can drop 20 lbs...but then you'll put it right back on unless you stay with 500 calories a day..and who would want to do that all their life? Who would want to starve themselves like that all their life? My appetite is always suppressed when I eat less carbs, and in turn, I also eat less calories without noticing it really since I don't count calories...but I decided to do that yesterday just to see where I was...I wasn't even hungry most of the day and had barely gotten in 1000 calories! Talk about a big appetite suppression! I am glad you are feeling better and are going to pick up the book. It is always wise to read the plan so you know what you're doing...and of course, a lot of people here are a great help as well if you have any questions. Good luck! Sheyla |
