Smile Checking in ~ May 3-9

Hello Everyone! Hope you had a good week.

Mine wasn't the best eating-wise, but I guess it wasn't the worst either. Boy, it's really hard to change your mentality without going overboard (and using the pregnancy excuse). Seems to me this is harder than maintenance, because at least with maintenance you could cut back if you had gone overboard. But, I'm not supposed to do that.

Hopefully I'll get the go-ahead from my OB to continue on CALP today. (fingers crossed) That *might* make it easier to adjust my thinking and stick with CALP during this pregnancy.

My stats this week (eek ) - actual is up 2.5 pounds, but average is only up 0.5 pounds. Hopefully I can nip this in the bud now, as they say you're only supposed to gain 1-2 pounds the first 10 weeks.

Hope you all are a great big bunch of losers this week!

Weight-wise, this has been an okay week for me. My actual stayed the same, 200, and my average was down 1.5 to 200.9.

Otherwise, it's been a miserable week, with more in my immediate future. Remember the suspicious mammogram I had a couple of weeks ago? The followup news has not been good. I had a needle biopsy, which showed cancer. That was followed by a day of surgery last Thursday for a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy. That went well and I'm back at work today. I will get the pathology results on Wednesday, which will determine what my treatment will be. I went through this 10 years ago at age 41, with a lumpectomy, axillary node dissection (no lymph node involvement), 6 months of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation. This is a new primary occurrence. I'm trying to be optimistic that they caught it early and hope that there is no lymph node involvement, just like last time. I dealt with it before and I can deal with it again. But it's a scary time.

If you haven't had a mammogram within the past year, GO GET ONE!

Sorry for such a depressing post, but I need all the support I can get right now. Thanks for listening.

Laly,

I'm so sorry to hear all that. You will be in my prayers. Hang in there!

Thanks for the reminder/note on mammograms. I had my first this past January. Wasn't as bad as I had heard it would be.

Good for you for doing so well with eating through all of this. That says a lot!

I have some good news. My OB said it was okay for me to stick with CALP through this pregnancy. Yeah! Hopefully that "permission" will help to keep me focused. If nothing else, it will help me with any naysayers (sp?).

Take care of yourself, Laly!

(((Hugs)))

I'm down .85 of a pound this week. Not impressive, but at least I'm still not seeing that awful number that I've seen for all these months. I am hoping that set point weight is a thing of the past!

Laly...I'm sorry to hear of your news. I hope everything goes well, keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you.

Debby, glad you can continue CALP, that's great that your doctor supports it.

Have a great week everyone.
Karen

Hey there, everyone, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am a 24 year old engaged female. I work in an IT department full time and go to school (3 credits a semester). I don't have much to lose but I like to be in control of my weight so here I am. I started Atkins a while ago and have now officially switched to CAD.

Debby, glad to here you can still do CALP even though you are prego.

Laly, I just got my stitches out yesterday. I had to have cancer suspicious (SP?) mole removed from my chest. Good new for me though the tests came back benign. I also had two spots removed from my back three weeks ago but they were also benign. Sorry to here you had a bad week, and hope this week goes better.

Karen, congrats on the weight loss even though it was small.
