I stayed steady this week for my actual, and was down .3 for my average. I'm seeing much less daily fluctuation these days, probably because I'm being much more consistent in my woe. DH and DD took me out for brunch yesterday and I had a yummy biscuit with my spinach and bacon omlette, then counted it as my reward meal for the day. In earlier weeks I would have been up today, but I wasn't. Maybe I've got it finally figured out - at least for now.

My surgical pathology results were about as good as they could be under the circumstances. The cancer is stage 1, with no lymph node involvement. I am very much relieved. The diagnosis is the same as I had 10 years ago, with a 95-98% survival rate. That's pretty good odds from where I'm sitting! I'm waiting to get an appointment with the medical oncologist to see where I go from here. It's very likely going to be chemo, followed by radiation. This woe is such habit now that I hope I can maintain it through the months to come. As I remember from my last experience with this, I felt like I had a mild case of morning sickness for most of the time, and really craved protein. I guess that could be a good thing.

Thanks to everyone for their notes of support. It was a tough week until I got my results and I really appreciated the support and encouragement I got here.

Hope everyone else had a good week. Amy, welcome to our little group. Debby, everything okay with your pregnancy?

Weekends are so hard for me with CAD. I did good up until Sunday night. I had my RM at lunch time and just couldn't help myself after noon. I had popcorn and some ice cream and I am up 3 pounds today. I will get the hang of this eventually. I think I will start crocheting (sp?) again so that when I think about food I can resort to that instead of eating.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Laly, congrats on doing so well with your eating! I bet it's nice to have it be a habit. Also, glad your news wasn't any worse. Will keep you in my prayers.

Amy, I've never been very good at switching my RM around. I guess I've done it successfully twice, but for me it has to be a pre-planned thing and I have to have my meals all planned out (and ready) for the rest of the day. Hang in there... you'll get the hang of it.

Well, my pregnancy is going okay. Can't wait for my OB appt on the 28th when I should get to hear the heartbeat. Getting to the point where I need naps... just got up from an hour nap. Thankfully DD is still sleeping. I hope she continues for a bit, because I have a lot I need to get done around here.

Haven't been following CALP very well this past week, but my actual is down 1.5 and my avg is only up 0.07... so that's not too bad. Planned on getting back on track today, but the thought of protein and veggies this morning just didn't sit right. Hopefully I can get some of my spinach quiche made tonight (or tomorrow) and that should help.

Thank you all for being here. It's nice to check in, so I plan on continuing to do just that.

Have a great week everyone!

Just wondering, does anyone have a problem with peanuts? Seems to me when I eat them at my RM I am always up a pound or two the next day. Could that be a food allergy that I didn't know about?

I spent 3 hours last night hand sewing the binding on a gift quilt that I had to have finished for today. Not only did I finish the quilt but it kept my hands busy so I couldn't snack. It's an effective and productive deterrent to eating during the evenings, which are my worst time.

Weekends are a hard time too. That's one of the reasons I use Monday as my anchor day. It helps keep me honest over the weekend if I know I have to report on Monday.

Hang in there, Amy. Soon it will be second nature.

It's not peanuts for me but roasted almonds. First of all, I can't keep them to a reasonable number. I also think it's all that salt. I think I lost most of the month of March to almonds. So now, I just don't eat them.

Hi girls! I was off yesterday so I'm checking in today. I am down .85 average for the week, actual 1 lb. I decided to get a monthly average of my weights to see progress since January 5th, when I recommitted. Happy to report that my monthly averages have gone down steady since January! So, the fat may not be dripping off my like sweat, but hey.....I'm making progress and I like that! Yesterday my mom and I went shopping and I didn't drink water like I normally would at work and I'm retaining today. So far I'm on 75 ounces of water! I also bought Dandelion Root, which is natural form of diurectic. The clerk told me it's better than commercially made diuretics. I find they help if I take them a week before TOM is due (less crampy, less bloating). We'll see if they work.

Laly, I'm sorry to hear about your test results. At least you know that you can beat this, you did it once. I hope everything goes well for you. I bet you're not looking forward to that nausea feeling.

Debby, Your weight seems to be doing great. I remember when I went to hear my kids heartbeat for the first time, it was so exciting. Then the sonogram, the best part I remember my son looked like he was exercising, his arms and legs were kicking like crazy, I guess that should have been a sign to me, today.....he never stops moving!!

Amy - I, like Debby, have trouble changing my RM. I did it once at lunchtime, then went home and ate another RM dinner! Not good!! I eat dinner as my RM and it works for me. Even if there are special lunches at work, I just plan ahead and find out what kind of food there is going to be and then if there is nothing I can eat, I bring my own salad or something.

Peanuts? I don't eat them at RM's. I am not a peanut eater. Peanut butter is another story though! Love it. I seem to have trouble with my weight going up if I have too much salt. I'm trying to reduce salt and fat at all meals to see if it helps.

Have a great week ladies
Karen

A suggestion as far as salt goes. Don't add any while cooking. Use a tiny bit after cooking. (I use Real Salt sea salt). It give quite a bit of salt flavor and the sodium content is minimized.

Other natural diuretics are: using hot lemon water (1/2 lemon squeezed in 8 oz hot water. I add Stevia Plus to sweeten. Drink first thing in the morning), unsweetened cranberry juice mixed with water. There are others in a new book (FAt Flush Foods), which I have downstairs.
