Default Anyone use eDiets?

I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so I am throwing it in here and hoping that those who don't hang in this area will see it as a "new post" and respond if they want to...

I have been looking over the eDiets.com site and thinking about joining there. I went through the little questionnaire thing, and they recommended to me either Atkins, which I wouldn't want to do strictly, or their own specially tailored plan. I put in that I preferred LC eating. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone is doing either Atkins or their own LC plan on eDiets. I would love to hear what you think of it before I shell out the money for it.

Thanks...have a great day!

Thumbs down Re: Anyone use eDiets?

Hi Mary,

I have looked over the E-diets web site on many occassions, they have some great info there. There is no way I would pay a subscription though, you can get all the help and support here and on nearly every web site without having to pay monthly for what you really know how to do anyway.

If you want more info than can be given here then buy the book or books on the chosen plans.

That is obviously just my view on things, I have paid to join so many of these online clubs and none of them are really any different. I would prefer to hear from real people about real worries and real feelings and real success stories etc.....IE: Low Carb Eating.Com

Take care,
love Louloo. x

I started with them, then found this place. After a while I stopped paying for it.
It can be very helpful, but my choices weren't the ones they were giving me. So much of the plan became 'Atkins' food choices (products) and lots / lots of cooking. Not my style. So it wasn't worth it for me.
However, it can be, and has been , a big help to a lot of people. I think Tanya (Prinzess Fay) probably belongs, considering they just did a story on her.

I am a member of ediets. The cool thing is that you can get your grocery list and meal plan sent to you and its a big help for me. I paid 40 bucks for 13 weeks. If I don't like the meal they have planned I just change it, because they allow you to do that, or I pick my own meal for the day. Either way, its a good investment for me. I am the kind of person who needs her meals planned. I need to know what to buy and how to cook it Also, they are creative with their recipes...I AM NOT!!!

Now, the recipes on this forum are the same way. creative and good. I used to use them all the time. The only thing you don't get here is your grocery list and your meal planned for you. So, its worth the money if you want things planned. If you are good at planning it yourself, then you are just as well with this site.

Also, I wanted to mention that you can change your plan as many times as you want. I do this daily to get ideas on recipes from other diets. I go from the zone, to atkins, to low fat, low sodium...just gives me ideas That's a perk too.

Hope that helps.

I looked at ediets, but honestly don't have the money for it. And why spend all that money when you can simply go buy the book, or even find the information for free on the internet?

As for menus, here's a good site that gilley put the URL up for.
http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/menus.html

Also, some of your low carb books will also have their own meal plans. And you can find meal planner software usually.

For many people, paying a little money (or a lot!) to participate in a diet program is one way of staying focused and on track. I say, do whatever works!

However, there are also many ways of planning your eating, cooking, and shopping--as well as your talking, in a supportive group like this one--that don't cost money. Just decide what you want, and give it a try.

I don't belong to e-diets, although they did a story on me, as well (which you can see right here.) I don't think that Tanya is a member, either. I contacted the managing editor at e-diets to do a story on her since she's lost so much, so that's how that happened.

I've said this before, and at the risk of ticking off the people at e-diets, I'll say it again: you don't need to pay anyone anything in order to be successful with weight loss, whatever plan you choose to follow.

Just do all of the research you can on whatever plan you choose, and then come up with a plan, and then just do it.

My two cents.......
