Question Weight Gain and exercise!!

Well today I had to weigh in and I gained 2 pound. I was disappointed but I have been suffering badly with IBS this last week and it can make a real difference to whether I gain or lose weight.

Do any one else suffering with IBS? If so, how do you cope with flare up's?

I have been reading about the 3 best overall exercises from Graeme Street, the squats, back row and push up's.

Because of back problems I can't do much exercise but I have been trying these out but doing the push up's against the wall instead of the floor, they are great and I can really feel them working....If you haven't tried these check out the exercise board.

There doesn't seem to be many people around on the Paleo board....where are you all gone????

Take care,
love Louloo. x

Angry Re: Weight Gain and exercise!!

Well it seems as though I am talking to myself this time, obviously not a very interesting subject, LOL

My IBS has turned around and I have now lost all the weight that I put on, but I am running to the loo all the time, so that's not nice either.

I am doing the 3 exercises and they are beginning to work, I can feel the benefits already and they are not aggravating my back. That is good news for me because I cannot normally exercise with all my health problems, so if anyone is in the same boat, they are worth a try.

Hope to speak to someone soon, take care,
love Louloo. x

Due to knee and shoulder problems I haven't been doing any exercising at all for about the pst 8 months. It's only been this week that I've been able to get back to bellydancing (shimmies and twisting motions + knee pain = bad mojo), and I seem to be a lot better. Remember all that Taebo I was doing? Well, turns out that while I was enjoying it, it was making my knee far worse. Par for the course, I suspect. I was going to start doing the Street's program, but since I've moved I don't know where all the information is. Nor do I know where my weights are, either. It's like some kind of joke, only I ain't laughin'...

Hello Dryad,

I am so pleased to see you on these forums again...if you read my last message you will know that I wasn't going to come here again for a while, but I just had to have a quick word with you.

Where have you been, you are obviously in the background somewhere, why don't you write in any more? We have all missed you.

So you have finally moved.......where are you now, still in Scotland I take it?

The belly dancing sounds like a laugh, I know several people who have lost stones doing that, but I bet it's hard work. Sorry about your knee, are you still following Paleo?

Tell us all your news or email me if you like.

I am not following anything at the moment. I am eating little and often and anything I like, so I have no cravings and I am staying steady and my IBS has settled down again. LC seems to be bad for me, mainly because I don't like the meat. I also don't like or can't have a lot of the things that the vegetarian low carbers like to eat, so I am doing my own thing for a while and see how I go.....I am probably not a good influence on here at the moment, but I am still interested in what goes on and how every one is doing.

Please take care of yourself now you are back to exercising. It was lovely to hear from you, don't leave it so long next time.

Take care,
love lynn.

What about non-meat sources of protein, tofu and seitan and ::shudder:: quorn? I'd think the tofu would be okay, even though it's fermented...hmm...

As for me, yeah, moved to a new house and started a new job in January, and have mentally been low carbing, but only fully physically lcing in the past few weeks. Took me a long time to configure trying to eat something lc during my 15 minute break (I only work part time, so most of my days are 5-6 hrs), but I think I've cracked it now. Luckily there's a Sainsbury's in the same plaza as work, but their cheap Irish meat sucks - I bought a cheap steak there, which I'll never do again because it tasted of fish! Say, do you like fish? And soup?

You take care of yourself too...

Hi Dryad,

No I can't eat that kind of thing, I have Candida so I have to avoid the yeasty foods too. I do like soups but I need to make my own to be absolutely sure of whats in it.

Can you afford the organic meat in Sainsbury's, it is a lot tastier. I like fish but get fed up with it quickly.

I don't know what I am doing to be honest....just eating a little of most things and trying to avoid the trigger foods like wheat and yeast.....what else can I do?

I hope that you are picking up now and continue to do well. Are you happy in your new house? Tell me where you learnt the belly dancing, it sounds a lot of fun.

Talk later,
love Louloo. x

The house kicks butt! We've got a front yard that's laid to gravel, although there are weeds and a few yellow pansies pushing up through it. It faces north, but we're lucky enough to be on a hill, so that the playground and playing field opposite us are lower than the our house, which means we have fabulous views to Bucksburn, Dyce, Oldmeldrum as well as farmland. The back yard is about 4 times the length of the front yard and is laid to lawn, apart from a patio area directly outside the back door. We have no plants planted as of yet, as I've got mystery plants from my mother-in-law that I don't know anything about. Well, obvisouly, they wouldn't be mysterious otherwise, eh?

I learned the dancing via video/dvd, as I only discovered two teachers in the area last year, and they both teach the nights I work late. Figures, eh?

Your house sounds great and it's nice to have such nice views. Are you into plants? We grown lots of different shrubs that change with the seasons and it makes for easier gardening, LOL

Can you tell me the name of the video for the belly dancing, it sounds like fun and something that I would like to have a go at?

I am still suffering badly with this dreaded IBS and I have terrible pain at the moment....still it stops me from eating, ha-ha.

It's nice to see you back here, take care and keep in touch,
love Louloo. x

If you've got a video player I can send you two tapes, both of which I believe are the easiest way of learning (without going to an actual class). They're American, and probably date from around 1983, judging byt the makeup

PM me an addy and I'll send them off on Tuesday.

Hi Dryad,

Yes I have a video player in each room so I can do it in private with no one to laugh at my efforts...thank you so much, are you sure that you can do without the tapes for a while? I will PM you my address.

Thumbs up Re: Weight Gain and exercise!!

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you all know that I seem to have started losing weight again and I have lost a lot this week, I am now down to 161 pounds and it really shows. Today we went out and I bought all new clothes a size smaller, so I am thrilled as we are going away to Crete on Monday for a week. I bought some of those new Tankinies for the beach and I felt really good in them, so this year I am looking forward to the beach and swimming in the sea..yippeeeeeee.

Dryad, I missed the postman today and a card was put through my door to pick it up at the post office tomorrow. I don't know if this is the one that you sent or not, but if it is then thankyou very much and I will contact you when I get back from my holiday.

Take care everyone, I hope that you are all enjoying success with your chosen WOE.

Love Louloo. x

Thumbs up Re: Weight Gain and exercise!!

Hi Dryad,

We have had a fantastic holiday and I did not gain an ounce......this was wonderful as the food was soooooo good, but I have done plenty of walking and swimming so I suppose that made up for it, ha-ha. The sunshine really made me feel well, I had no aches or pains and my legs were not painful or swollen.

After a hectic day washing and ironing we were called over to Colin's mum....she has had another nasty fall and we were there for hours waiting for a doctor, she is ok but very badly bruised....this is the first time really that I have sat down to relax. (I could do with a holiday) LOL

I would love one of your jinglies if you don't mind. I have read the book but not yet had time to look at the first tape, I am hoping to do so tomorrow evening as we have to go down and see to my mum tomorrow.

Again, I would like to thank you for lending me your things, it is so kind of you. I have been on the look out for tapes like these for months and couldn't find any, so I am so pleased to have yours to study. Again, I hope that you are not in a hurry, it is going to take me quite a while to learn the easy tape, ha-ha.

I hope that you are well and that your knees are better.....and I hope that you are leaving the chocolate alone, LOL.

Thanks again, take care,
love Louloo. x
