Hey, Amy,
I'm here I had to take a quick overnight trip to San Antonio and just got back this afternoon. I stayed in a lovely b&b in a historic district, but it was much too hot to do much of anything except sit by the a/c. Had a wonderful bacon and eggs breakfast, cooked by someone else, the best was to have breakfast, IMHO!

I braved the scale on Tuesday, after a week in DC eating out for every meal. I must have done better staying on plan than I thought since I didn't gain anything at all. I was truly amazed! So my actual remains the same this week.

Debby, Karen, Ilse - hope everyone is okay and that y'all have a good week.

Hi ladies. As of Saturday I've officially lost 48 lbs I saw a number on the scale I haven't seen in many years. But, lack of water and veggies caused me to bounce up 8 pounds! Now.....I certainly didn't eat 28,000 calories over the course of 3 days, so....I'm taking it as fluid retention, and that I really haven't felt myself all week. I am sticking to the plan and this weekend decided I'm going to make a huge effort to eat more veggies and drink more water.

Laly - good for you that you didn't gain! Amy - get back on the wagon - you'll get there, you're so lucky you only have about 5 lbs to lose! Wish I had that much!!

Amy, you CAN do this! It's good that you're getting right back at it. I'm sure quitting cigs is very hard, so I will say a prayer for you.

Laly, that's great that you could eat out for EVERY meal and not gain! WTG, girl! Also, just wanted you to know that I wrote you a note in my journal. Hope it helps.

Karen, AWESOME! :jumpgreen 48 pounds is great! What an accomplishment. Good plan for sticking with more veggies and water. I'm sure it is fluid retention, and you've got the right course of action to get rid of it. Good for you!

Now for me... my stats for last week were actual stayed the same and avg went up by 0.6. It was my carbfest, so I'm not too upset about it because I expected it. Anyway, I started Atkins Induction on Tuesday, June 1. Also trying to kick my caffeine habit. Doing alright. The first 2 days of induction were hard... lack of energy and headache/achiness. The headache/achiness is gone today, but still feeling less energetic than usual... of course that could be the result of dropping my morning coffee (3 big travel mugs) and afternoon sodas, too.

If it's alright with you all, I'll still check in here to see how you all are doing. Probably won't report stats, but I don't want to lose track of the friends I've made here.

I have been off the CALP plan since I got sick Tuesday. Since carbs stay down more easily than other foods, I have used that as an excure to eat the wrong things for too many meals!

Karen, thanks for the good wishes. It does help to know that it's a flu bug and not food poisening or something. Other people have told me they are not feeling perfectly either. Good job on the 48 pounds. Is it all from CALP?

Debby, I hope you do keep checking in here. I know we would miss you!

Amy, Laly, stick with it, I know it gets hard!

Here's to a fresh, clean day, starting with no carbs!

Debby - I admire anyone who can give up coffee! That is something that I just haven't been able to give up. I only drink it in the a.m., about 2 cups if that. Keep up the good work

Ilse, a little bio for you.....started Atkins 3/18/02, lost 45 lbs in the 1st 6 months. Stalled around November 2002, started CALP in November 2003, but had gain a few pounds back prior to switching. Christmas did me in, gained 8 lbs. so in January 2004 I really got serious. I started out with CALP, wasn't losing much, then in late April, I think, I decided to try the "old" CAD way, I've lost better since switching. So far since January I've lost 17 lbs. Overall, I'm 8 lbs. below my stalled weight with Atkins. I still think I should be losing better than I am, not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sticking with it. I don't ever want to gain this weight back !

Have a great weekend everyone.
Karen

I didn't have a good CALP weekend. However, I overcame my temptations yesterday and did not give in to them. I know the cravings I had were a result of higher carbs.

I started using a rebounder ( mini-trampoline) yesterday and notice my mood is better than usual today. I need to get back to it today.

Karen, What are you doing different for CAD as opposed to CALP? I don't do the salad as part of my RM normally.

Ilse, Some days, but not all, I don't worry too much about the balance of my dinner. I found that I was making a dinner for me, a dinner for my DH and one for my kids. It was ridiculous. So I decided to try the way CAD was originally proposed at RM, have whatever you want. In the newer book they do say you should balance and start with a salad. But I don't worry too much about that.

Honestly, I've lost better not worrying about the balance. I still try to have the protein and veggies, but probably have more carbs than 1/3. But some nights, if I don't feel like cooking, I may have some chicken soup and a PBJ sandwich or grilled cheese. I'm trying to stress less about my meals - lord knows I have enough stress in my life, that worrying about meals doesn't need to be one of them

Hope you have a great week!
Karen
