Most low carb plans allow for moderate alcohol carbs, generally, however not in the beginning stages. When you consume alcohol, that is burned first, not your body fat, which is the point of any LC plan. In addition, alcohol will hit you harder when on a low carb diet.

In the Zone plan, yes, a very moderate amount of alcohol is allowed, but not considered a wise choice. It also counts against your carb allowance.
