| I'm trying to do this for my whole family!! So far it seems pretty confesing. I see no new messages, does that mean no-one come to this broad very often. I have tried akins, but my husbands doc. said he could not do akins because of his kindey's.Then my son said he would try the zone because he thinks it is more balanced, so I decided to try with them....We started about3 days ago.I went to zoneperfect. I think I want some one that can drop me notes and anwser questions and Ect. Carrie |

| Hi Carrie, thanks for stopping by! We were a nice little group last year, but when the board's server crashed, most were so close to goal they didn't come over to the new server for long. I guess in a way, that's good, being close to goal! I have been on the Zone, and modified Zone since 1998. I may not be able to answer all your questions, but I'd be very happy to try. | Hi Carrie, welcome to LCE, so glad to have you. Although I'm not a Zoner, I can assure you that BC is a great success story. She has a wealth of information regarding Zone and LC in general, so you're in good company! Take care~ Susan LCE Member since 01/02 |

| Hi Carrie...I've just started back low carbing and I'm following a zone version rather than Atkins because of a need to limit fat due to potential heart disease. I've been reading the books and net articles and am fairly enthused about the WOE. I read labels and try and Zone each meal but I'm not super hyper about. I aim for the snacks but find that I am more comfortable with a piece of cheese in the afternoon and don't seem to need the carbs...if I do I go for a few fat free Wheat thins. My "snack" at night is four ounces of red wine and a piece of cheese or a few almonds. I also keep a can of almonds in the living room. If I get the munchies I count out three or four of those. Beats the bags of chips that I would normally eat. Anywho...nice to see soeone else doing the Zone. I find that I still feel like I belong to the Atkins forums...they'll always feel like home. | Hi Pongie, glad to hear Zone style living works for you and your family. I find it to be a very flexible and sensible way to live. Although I still follow all the Zone principles, I probably do something more like 35-35-30, rather than 40-30-30. Anyway, the Zone is very much like the Atkins maintenance phase, so I'm glad you feel at home anywhere on the board. BC 172/108/108--5'2" Zone since 4/98 |

| Ouch. Not ready for maintenance! Have to try and work those numbers a little tighter. I lost the first 3 pounds in the first few days of the first week. Nothing else for about 5 days. I need to fly those OWLS before maintenance. I'm eating some carbs - good ones - to balance the protein. Fats are fairly low and only using the good kind. Trying to limit eggs -I tend to eat too much protein at a meal. Lots of salads, little dressing, zukes, mushrooms, some canned fruit with fat free cottage cheese (washed the stuff off that fruit since it all had some degree of syrup). It's slow, it's tough but I'll get there. Happy Loser in 2004! 190.5/186.5/130 |

| Oh, LOL! What I meant was that when you Zone, you eat basically the same way way and same amounts from start through maintenance. There's no "induction" "OWL" or "maintenance" as distinct phases. Since you are eating to support your lean body mass, excess fat disappears as a nice side effect. To me, that's always seemed easier than having to think about changing phases, modify what I eat, etc. And in my case, although my weight loss was slow, it was steady--no stalls. I have no doubt that you'll find the right balance for yourself, Pongie, and continue to be a Happy Loser BC 172/108/108--5'2" Zone since 4/98 |

| Ya know --- it was you and Maggie who always kept me coming back before! Between your photo (which is AMAZING) and the fact that we're the same height and I can't believe I'll ever see the shy side of 130 again - and Maggie's perservence, wit, and especially her new (now old) red hair, I know darn good and well that I can succeed. But darn...it's been nearly 3 years and I'm nearly in the same place. I've recommited before but never facing heart disease and I really think this will take. Besides...I wanna be a skinny Red Hatter! Thanks for being there all of you vets and to Andrea for this site. Sure does make life easier when you're among friendly folk. | Pongie, for most of us it takes many tries before it "finally sticks" and we are able to take the weight off and keep it off. Each time, though, we learn a little more about ourselves and about what works and doesn't work for us as individuals. There's no shame in anything but giving up for good. And ya know what, this could just the time it really sticks--and you go all the way. It sounds like you have a big incentive and a positive attitude, and that makes all the difference. I know you can be successful. Hey, if I can do it, anyone can BC 172/108/108--5'2" Zone since 4/98 |
