| Hi I think I finally found the right place on the 'net for me. I'm a recent SBD flunk out. I tried several times, I woudl make through the first week of the detox period and then week 2 feel like I was losing my mind and go on a carb binge. I've been reading the stickies on this site and found that I passed the test with 100%. I've been bingeing on carbs for as long as I can remember, I can't seem to kick them. This morning I had a bagel for breakfast. I ended up having two more before heading to the shower. It's just scary. My weight will vary anywhere from 230 in the summer up to almost 300 in the winter. I ordered the CAD and CALP books from Amazon and I'm looking forward to learning more. My mian question is for those of you who started this woe, what were the initial physical and mental changes you felt or experienced? I just want to know what to expect. When I started the SBD I felt like I could hardly drag myself out of bed an I was a little testy to say the least. Thanks for any help and all the information I've found on this forum! CJ |

| Hi CJ, Welcome! You've come to the right place for help and support. The people on these boards are great. You will learn a lot by reading the CAD and CALP books. They should be your guide to this woe. I follow CALP, which really doesn't have an "induction" period. I had a headache for the first 2 days or so, but that was it. I find CALP easier to live with because I can still have carbs in moderate amounts during my Reward Meal. That makes it easier to live with my non-LC family and not have to keep "my food" separate. There are days when I don't have a reward meal, but not often. I now find that if I eat carbs outside of the 1-hour RM, I immediately start to crave more. I can definitely identify with your bagel story. However, if I stick to the plan, I don't have cravings and I rarely get hungry between meals. Again, welcome and please let us know how you're doing. There are a group of us who post our progress weekly and you're certainly welcome to join us if you want. Any time you've got questions or problems or want to brag or whatever, we'll be here.

| Lynn Ann It is possible to do very well with this WOE. I lost 100 pounds in just under a year doing CALP. For me at least, it's important to make sure the RM is balanced and not heavy on the carbs. This is a great place for support as well!
