I'm wondering....has anyone noticed a strong, funny smell in their urine since starting Atkins? I don't remember reading about this in the book. Just wondering if it's the diet or just me! LOL

Ketones are expelled through breath, perspiration, and urine. That may be the funny smell. Also, make sure you are drinking 1/2 your body weight in ounces. Dehydration can also exacerbate the concentrated, smelly urine problem.

And if youre like me, you smell your vitamins and if youve had a garlicky meal you will smell the garlic as well. All of these and more are the reasons we have to drink that water, to rid the excess and unneeded byproducts from our bodies.

I've only noticed the post-asparagus-eating smell. Within an hour of eating asparagus, (which I LOVE) my urine takes on a funny smell. Not horrible, but noticeable and very different! And, after I take my supplements, namely the B-Complex, it turns a very bright neon yellow for a time! Pretty PP! LOL!
