Which plan are you doing? GEt the bood and read it--you can buy it or get it from the library--but you need to read the book. . .I equate it to going on a vacaction--I want to konw what I am doing and why it is going to work and what it is going to do for my body before I start. . .after reading the book/planning my vacation I take my guide and use it often!
The number one food on this WOE is vegetables--lots of lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, green beans and other fresh vegetables, a good source of protein is fresh meats and fats--real butter heavy whipping cream,. cream cheese and of course the natural sources like meat and cheese.
You really must read the book. It will tell you all you need to know about what and what not to eat. It will tell you exactly how to do the program. I recommend Atkins personally. There are many other options for low carbing though. There is South Beach, Zone, Sugar Busters, Carbohydrate Addicts, and many more. There is book for each one of these. I've found it is better to purchase the book then to check it out at the library. For one, the library is out of it most of the time. And two, there is a time limit on how long you can keep it. If you purchase a book then you'll have it to refer to throughout your plan. They are fairly inexpensive. I paid like 10.00 for Atkins New Diet Revolution at Wal Mart. You can also order them online at www.atkins.com. No one here can do your reading for you and tell you exactly what and what not to eat and how to do your program. Get the book, read it, and let us know how your doing.

Welcome, Hornet.
It's true, alas. One does need to start with a book. There are several low carb eating plans out there and we support them all! No matter which you choose, it's really important that you understand the principles involved in the program of your choice. Once you've got that, most food choices start to become obvious.
There's still much we're all discovering every day, particularly about many of the low carb and so-called low carb products emerging in the market place.
So, make yourself at home and join us while you're reading up on your program.![]()

on the home page of this site, on the right hand side of the screen is a link to get Laura Richard's book 'The Secret to Low Carb Success'.
It's a very complete over view of all the main low carb plans and will help you to make an educated choice about which plan is best for you.
when life hands you lemons, order lobster!
Jonny Bowden's book, Living the Low Carb Life is a really good one too. He talks about most of the LC plans out there now. And rates them. I also like Protein Power, by Michael and Mary Dan Eades. GREAT resource.
Cruise around this site, check out the recipe section, read a book, post often, and you will get the hang of it.
Let us know what else we can help you with. Welcome aboard!!!!!
